Windy City Walleye Hunter

Hey Backherup,

Way to go, my man. First, your Kitties pound the rapidly sinking Twinkie ship with Mr. Bonderman holding court and then your Pistons start listening to old Bee Gee tunes...Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Stayin' Alive, Stayin' Alive. Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah..Stayin' Aliiiiive! Good luck in Game 7 Bud. I guess if my beloved Wooly Bullies couldn't be there then we need to get the Pistons to the championship. We got to keep the trophy in the East. Maybe you can get the basketball championship and we can get the....Dare I say it, baseball championship. Good luck vs. Mr. Duncan and the boys and keep up the Twinkie pounding !!! Here's a little love, my man...YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD...YES! Windy

Windy,

I'm just a bad person who can hold a grudge and as a Bulls fan I will rather see anyone than Detroit or the Knicks win the NBA champ. Just can't let go from years ago....

Geno,

Are you talking about the days of Bill Lambeer and (gasp) Dennis Rodman? I thought so. I guess if anybody has to win other than the Bullys I would like it to be somebody from the East so we can say that we lost to the best. We don't want no stinkin team from Texas showin us how to play Dr. Naismith's creation. I was just kiddin on that, thought it might get the Texan interested though I know he doesn't cruise this thread often. Later, hey what the heck is happening to the Cubbies tonight, they were doing so good. Got to give them the "beat down" so they will know their place when they take on their next opponent, right? Ha Ha

Thanks again, Kitties.

Wow, double digit lead before the end of June!

Bring on the Cubbies.

Be careful what you wish for Windy.

(And yes, I was referring to the bad boys of Motown era. As to the Knicks, the Starks era was when we referred to them as "thugs". Of course as a Bull, Starks was worthless-figures!)

10-4...

Here's one smiley for Tuesdays 7-2, "wake-up call" win... grin.gif

Here's 2 smileys for the 8-2 drubbing of the faltering Twinkies... grin.gifgrin.gif

Will there be 3 smileys and a second, consecutive Tigers sweep of the Twins? wink.gif

Hey Backherup,

Like Meatloaf says, "Two out of Three ain't bad". Nice job of Twinkie pounding. Looks like the Brew Crew is picking up where you left off. We have to give the Cubbies a little attention and put them back in their place then I can get back to Twinkie Watch 2005. Got to run, sister in laws wedding this weekend and lots of stuff to do though I will try to sneak a peek at my beloved Pale Hose every now and then. Later, Dude.

YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD...YES!

Geno, Geno, My Cubbie Loving Bambino

How do you figure anybody is ahead? Last time I checked it was 3 games each this year. If you want to look back at the total series we are still up by two games? What's with all this "up" stuff, my man? It is a tie in my book and the only way I can think of to settle the tie is for my beloved Pale Hose to take the Cub Nation on one more time this year...Let's say around October? When the weather is a little cooler, maybe for oh let's say 7 games or so? Are you up for it, my brother? Can I get an amen?

Talk to you soon, my friend. I am getting the "heebie geebies" as it is now T-Minus 25 days till Cass Lake 2005 with me and Mr. Mr. Jones....We got a thing...goin' on. Sing it with me Geno...Me and Mr. Mr. Jones.......

Windy,

Can't follow your post. What is this "up" stuff you are referring to. I don't remember talking anything about being up.

Anyway, typical of you to bring out the history books ON A SELECTIVE BASIS. Last weekend is all I was referring to as you were the one talking in advance on how the Sox would put the Cubs in their place. But once again, all just a big bag of wind.

Don't try changing the subject with me you little PaleHose lover you. You made your bed, now sleep in it.

Well, if Buzz and Windy aren't afraid of becoming too friendly to continue this great banter, why don't you smoke the peace pipe for a few hrs and have a few beers and watch a Cass sunset - unless one of you is a violent drunk. Me, I'm a happy one no matter if I'm toasting with a Sox or Twin or Cub fan.

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
