Bug Hatch

Recommended Posts

Kabkid posted last week that the caddis fly and mayfly hatch was in progress or coming. Coming up to Kab tomorrow and wonder what the status of the bug hatch is? Not that I can do anything about it, just curious. crazy.gif

Have spent the last week here, out on the lake every day but fishing only about 1-2 hours daily. Seems I catch 1 or 2 fish every time out. My observations on bugs: Lots of dragon flies hatching with small fish slurping them regularly. My pup loves to retrieve the dragon flies off the water. Lots of large caddis flies hatching after dark. Stopped off at Potatoe Island for a short time last night around 11 PM and you could hardly breath without inhaling them.I have not seen mayflies yet. "Ankle biting flies" were somewhat annoying on the one humid day last week, but have been rare otherwise. Mosquitoes have been somewhat annoying after dark but not too bad.I always look at bugs as a plus for shallow water fishing. Good luck with the fish and the bugs!

Don't take me wrong, I'm not anti-technology.  Battery powdered items will always have their place.  I'm mean you don't want your girl friend or wife in the bedroom playing for their gas powered adult toys!!  That would be a bit loud and smokey!

That’s right. My 84 year old dad loves his electric chain saw. Light weight and quiet. Besides, at his age he’s not cutting a bunch. Where as myself I want something with more power and heavier duty.  Look at how many people have switched back to gasoline cars after running one in winter if you travel a lot.   As long as my strike master works I’ll keep using gas. Maybe my next will be electric, but who knows,  you can find used gas ones pretty reasonable as others buy electric.

I think electric items have their places, I just don't think large commercial jobs are going to be able to work well with them. Can't see a logging crew out in the woods all day changing batteries!
