Grand Rapids Winnie fishing report 5-30-05

Memorial weekend, a weekend to remember our service men and women enjoy some fishing and be with the families. The weather so far has been dismal to say the least but I hope everybody had a great weekend. The fishing has been about the same as the weather. A bit dismal but it had some bright spots here and there. Winnie has been OK some days like yesterday were a bit tough but if you keep at it you can still get your fish. We got our fish in 7.5 ft of water up at stoney to 15 ft out in front of farley Creek. So the fish are still just all over the place. Best for me was a rainbow fireball 1/8-oz and a shiner. I have heard reports of people using leeches and crawlers already, just goes to show a person never really knows what fish are going to bite on.

Other area lakes that have been doing all right are Trout in colerain, Split hand has been getting some fish, Bowstring has been putting out some fish. On Bowstring they have been deep like 20ft or shallow in that 9-10 ft so look at both places. Sand Lake has been getting alittle better on the sand flats. Wabana has been tough for the last week and I haven’t heard much about Pokegama as of late. Red lake is still putting out fish in the 4.5-7 ft of water. They seem to move in better as the weather gets better and when it goes bad they kinda disperse back out alittle deeper.

Good luck fishing
