Muskies in Big Sandy...

Recommended Posts

We actually caught a muskie up in the flowage by the bridge that goes to Palisade. It was really small, probably a yearling, but had vertical stripes on it. Could it have been? I did not think there were any muskies around there.. Any thoughts on this?

"Yah, so ya got da Muskie Huh? Vas he a big devil? Did da big Muskie fight lac da dickens?

I think you caught a White Crappie...a really little White Crappie! They have the upside down christmas tree markings.

Why were you targeting small White Crappies during the walleye opener? Who are you Yeti? Come clean....your name is Grapaul is'nt it! grin.gif

Don't laugh, I have seen a muskie off our dock. My wife had it on her line until it had enough and snaped the line. It was well into the keeper range, and I'm guessing about 25-30 pounds. I've talked to some old timers on the lake and they told me it was stocked a long time ago with them, but were did they go? It's hard enough to find walleyes some time on that lake, tring to find muskies I think would be a lot harder.

A couple of years ago in the fall I had a huge Muskie on my line by the mouth of the Prairie River. We did not get to land it but I've caught 25 lb northerns in Canada and this one was all of that plus more. I would have liked a chance to weight the fish. He had total command of my 6lb fire line. The Whistler I was using came out of his mouth after a good fight. It was dissapointing because there was no slack in the line..... I have the last place north of the Palisade bridge before the 65 bridge and Bud Johnson's Pine Haven Resort. Stop in if your in the neighborhood.
