Does anyone know why there is a hazard marker in the narrow channel just past Mocassin Point heading towads the back side of Pine Island? I always stay to the left of the marker by 10 feet and the water is plenty deep.

I can say from experience that the bouys mark a general spot and they move from year to year. A lot of times a bouy will mark a specific rock so it's kind of like playing russian roulette whizzin by the things crazy.gif

It can be fairly deep in the area and one huge boulder in the mix, a great example is C69.

The marker is sitting right on top of a nasty rock! frown.gif

Steer clear of all hazard markers! They are there for a reason!

Just remember all the bouys do mark hazards, but not all hazards have bouys! They do a great job of marking the Nav. Channels and most of the Hazards in heavily traveled areas. There are many hazards off the beaten path that have no marker. Always be careful when out exploring new water.

Good Luck to all in 2005!
