big sand and little sand

Recommended Posts

coming up memorial day weekend and would appreciate some general walleye fishing info on these lakes or any surrounding lakes nearby. watched the weather today and my guess is there's more beer drinkers today than walleye fishermen.

Just go where all the boats are. Them lakes are usually packed that weekend.

But when I fish big sand I usually have the best luck at sunset, sunrise or low light conditions. Drag a lindy rig around with a worm or leech on it.

Big Sand is a super clear lake and unless you get some chop-hard to fish for Walleye's during the day.

Also has a slot. I caught a 29" on it during opener 3 years ago...

I've been thinking of taking a trip to these lakes next year and I'm curious, can a guy get a boat from one lake to the next on that chain or would we need to put her on the trailer? The biggest boat in my group would be an 18' Tyee. I read about this channel between lakes but you never know what they are like until you get there.

I went through the channels last spring from Little Sand to Big Sand in my brother-in-law's 1750 Fishhawk. We just barely made it through - don't know the water level this year though. Plus, if you're planning to go from Little to Big there's a low bridge to go under as well by Zorbaz. I'd plan on trailering (at least the Tyee).

I saw what you mean last weekend on my way to Walker. No way his Tyee was getting under there, I might have to use my Pike DLX, minus the windshield.
