End of another slow year....

Well, it's that time again for us to pull the big houses off the lake until next season. I know I will be looking forward to getting my house back out come Xmas, but right now my level of anticipation is pretty low. Not to start a really negative post, but I am just wondering how everyone would sum up their winter on Mille Lacs. I love being out there and I love being in my house and all that goes with it. The experience is great, and that is a wonderful thing, because the last two winters have been really poor fishing. I caught more fish in 1.5 days on Lake of the Woods last month than I have caught in two seasons on Mille Lacs (maybe 18 nights). I know its not a fair comparison, but man is it a different experience fishing up there as opposed to Mille Lacs. Just wondering what everyone else thinks about the fishing this winter and how they would sum it up. Again, not trying set a negative tone, but I find myself a little frustrated by the lack of eye's coming through the holes and wonder if there is going to be any significant improvement in the next few years. Althought this winter was marginally better than the prior one.

Well I actually did worse this year than last year. I only caught about 5 perch, only 1 was a keeper and I got a grand total of 1 walleye and 2 eelpout. I only fished about 6 nights but last year I averaged a walleye a night.

I did pretty well, maybe a few less walleyes than last year. I think the key is to move and to stay away from the big groups of houses. I moved 3 times and caught maybe 50 walleyes (10-15 slots), and a couple dozen jumbo perch along with the babies. Two 28" fish this year vs. 3 last year, but pretty comparable. I fished mostly weekends and a few odd Mondays or Fridays.

My go to lures with lead core have been #5 Shad Raps and #7 Jointed Rapalas.  With Shad Raps I usually start about 2 mph with 85 ft of lead out in 20 ft of water. I usually use a 20 ft mono leader.  With Jointed Rapalas I let out 100ft of lead traveling 2 mph.  I am moving between 20 and 25 ft of water.

My name is HANNA HENRY .I want to give thanks to HAKEEM AHMED for bringing back my ex husband. No one could have ever made me believe that the letter I’m about to write would actually one day be written. I was the world’s biggest skeptic. I never believed in magic spells or anything like this, but I was told by a reliable source (a very close co-worker) that Trust is a very dedicated, gifted, and talented person,It was one of the best things I have ever done. My love life was in shambles; I had been through two divorces and was on the brink of a third. I just couldn’t face another divorce, and I wanted to try harder to make our relationship work, but my husband didn’t seem to care. and he broke up with me again . I was confused and did not know what to do again, rather they got in contact with HAKEEM AHMED. He did a love spell that made my husband come back to me. We are now very much happy with ourselves. HAKEEM AHMED makes him realize how much we love and need each other .This man is for REAL and for good . He can also help you to fix your broken relationship. I had my husband back! It was like a miracle! He suddenly wanted to go to marriage counseling, and we’re doing very, very well , in our love life . contact email [email protected] or text or add him up on whatsApp at: +27788392740 his web page http://astrologerastrology.com

You'll appreciate having less guys in the boat if you need to drag raps.

I love pulling lead core but usually don't pull it out until later in the season.  Can you share depth and speed numbers that were working with lead?  Thanks.

Heading up early Saturday morning. Going to be a short, discombobulated trip this year. Starting with 4 of us but one has to leave to watch his son play in state (WI) baseball tournament on Tuesday. Rest of us are only there until Wednesday. Kind of disappointing but I'm thinking we'll have to make a trip in September as well.    Forecast calls for wind!

Those are cormorants and they are aggressive fish eaters.  I saw more last weekend than typical on vermilion.  Pretty common  on the east end but I don’t usually see much of any on the west which is where we were.  They eat a lot of fish and surprisingly large fish for their size so they aren’t great for the fish populations.     I can’t believe how fast the water warmed up.  We were seeing up to the high 70’s last weekend.  Typically mid June is mid to upper 60’s.  The Muskies didn’t seem to be too fired up with the quick warm up.  The ones we moved were lazy and would not go in to the turn.  Hopefully some more normal temps this week help.
