koWALLEYEski - where have you been getting them at? What have you been using for bait/ lures? How deep have you been fishing for them at? Any info would be appreciated.

Well....I followed the Secret River that flows directly into Secret Lake in Ottertail County. I fished in about 20 feet of water. Red or Pink tear drops worked the best for me. I used a forage minnow flasher. Blue seemed to get the most hits. Could barley keep them off the lines at sun rise. Slowed a little. But other than that it was a fun day on the lake. I have a few other holes ill need to be fishing after the bite slows in the 30 footer. If you would like to hook up and fish the cisco give me a call...218-205-6132

well isnt that helpful! Is there anyone out there that could give me a little more specific details on how they have been catching ciscoe? I was able to see some on the aqua vu this past weekend when i was trying to catch walleyes on Ottertail, but had no wax worms.

Gonna be out on little pine this weekend to see if the tulibees are snapping. If anyone is coming out there look for a green ford f 150 in the middle of the lake. Hope to find some of those little stinky things.

I was out this morning for tulli's. Fish were all over in the 30 foot hole, but didnt have much luck on them biting my hook. They would just bump and then move off. I dont know what was wrong today. Thats why they call it fishing I guess. Hey currdogg give us a report on the Pine tullis.

aquafang- koWALLEYEski and I are going to be out on Jewett lake this weekend going for Tullis in the early morning probably. You should think about heading out there and trying to catch some of those smelly things.

Sounds good to me. We got to be there before the sun though. Maybe even try a different spot than I have been fishing. I have contacted aqua via email so he has the heads up. Cant wait to get em!

I have heard from a few different people that they are getting tullis on molly stark, but have heard different stories on whether they have worms or not. I have personally gotten out there to try it though. No way to find out for sure unless you try it.

I have been out on molly about six times in the past two weeks. Fishing has been fair. They seem to be real finicky. They will come right up to your bait and just nudge it. If you fish in a house you can site fish them which makes it alot easier. Been fishing from about 6:30 till 9:00. Two of us have been avergeing about 20 to 25 fish total each time.

rwestb - I have never actually been on Molly Stark only drove by it when going to work in Batte Lake laying carpet. How exactly do you get on the lake? Do you have to go through the park? Where about do you fish on the lake?

poutpro- There is a public access in the park that you can drive out to the lake on. Some people just park off the side of the county road cause it's not that far of a walk. I fish in about 40ft of water on the south side of the lake.

Ive never been in Glendalough, do you need to buy an entrance sticker like in Maplewood, or not? Is it legal to park on the highway or do people just do it despite? Sorry for all the questions, but if I'm gonna go try out there this weekend i need to know what the heck im doing. Thanks very much!

pout- you can park in the ditch off of the road or if you go in the park you can get a day pass by the front entrance. I think that there is a honor box there.

hey thanks a lot rwestb i think kowaleyeski and me might go try out there this weekend if we dont get any on Jewett lake. Have you caugt any that have had worms in them at all? If you're out there, look for a little, black, Toyota pickup, or 2 people fishing in a blue fish trap voyager. Thanks a lot for all the tips.

pout- i will be on upper red this weekend so I won't be out after the tullibees. I have noticed a few worms but then again I have yet to see a tullibee without them. The worms smoke up and taste just as good as the fish. I just cut the heads off gut them and bring them to the locker. That way you dont know if they have worms. What ya dont know wont hurt you. Good luck.

I've not fished Molly Stark this year but have in the past. Yes, they are more wormy than most. Don't know if that makes a diff. I drove by last weekend and there was about 10 people out there. Talked to 2 guys coming off the ice and they only had two. Said they saw very few caught. My neighbor caught a nice bucket full on Pickerel yesterday. Only report I have heard from there this year. Good luck.

I was out on Jewett today and yesterday morning. Today we managed to get 0 fish, but yesterday we caught 15 between 3 people, and constantly had fish on the vexilar and aqua vu from about 7:30-8:30. I've been hearing of people going out to Molly Stark and getting closer to 30-40 per day. I want to get out there, but only have one more day to go after big EYES, so i might need to try that.

Just curious. I've always fished tullibees in the morning. Is there usually a afternoon-evening bite also? I've caught a few in the afternoon by accident while crappie fishing but never targeted them.

I've always gone out in the morning and have never even caught one after 8:30 AM, but I have been going only on 1 lake so it may be different on other lakes. On OT i have heard of people getting them in the late morning to early afternoon time. If anyone really starts to get into them id like to hear a little bit about it. Also, if anyone smokes them and knows what the brine is made up of that you soak them in I'd be interested. Thanks.

rwestb - have you been out to Molly Stark at all since your last post? Are you going out there this weekend at all? Id like to get into some TUllis this weekend. Ive only been getting about 4 between 3 people out on Jewett lake. Keep my posted.

Pounded some more out on clitherall. Not sure why folks fish'em though. I like a smoked fish here and there but I wouldnt target the suckers. I was fishin for eyes and watched somthing follow on the radar. thought it was a bigger fish. Turned out - as I peered down the hole - dang tully. Since it wasnt prime time yet - I dropped a waxy & caught a bunch - til my old man said it stunk too much & yer scarin the waly away. I dropped er to the bottom & they would follow til a little like crappie tap.

When you see baitfish move in - it'l be tully time

On an off light precipitation today. Hoping the weather this weekend will be nice so I can get out and crappie fish and check the weather. My yard has standing water and the driveway is a mess. Lot of lakes are near standard water levels which is good. Heard they are done stripping eggs on cut foot. Shaping up to be a good opener. Last year fished open water 60+ days and 28 different lakes. Hopefully bump both those numbers up this year

I don't think its 100% accurate, you are just relying on other average joes to report precipitation. But I think most numbers there are right in the ball park, especially when you see consistency among multiple reports in a general area.   It's probably more accurate than what the weather terrorists say on the news  which usually only reports metro areas. cocorahs is good for getting rural area reports you just might not have as many reports to go off of

Thanks Mike.  I've been looking at bags of it for years but never wanted to chance wasting good meat on it.  I have a gas and charcoal grills, but really love the flavor of charcoal over gas. Most of the time it's if we have time to use one or the other.

On the south end...   The big open water, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  The bays and tributaries of LOW such as Zippel Bay, Bostic Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  The lake is in good shape for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. The many bays and backwaters of the lake have been receiving attention from spring pike anglers.  Some pike have already entered the bays, spawned and gone back out to the lake, but there are still a pile of fish to be had.   The pike season on LOW is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one fish allowed more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. On the Rainy River...  Another great week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  The bite has been very good and lots of fish of all sizes are being boated.     Sturgeon are being caught from Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River all the way to Birchdale, about 42 miles.  There are many boat ramps along the river to make life easy.  Starting from the east going west...   -Nelson Park at Birchdale (About 30 miles east of Baudette) -Frontier (9 miles west of Birchdale) -Vidas (Near Clementson Rapids) -Timbermill Park (East Baudette) -Peace Park (International Drive, Baudette) -Wheeler's Point (mouth of Rainy River)  The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Up at the NW Angle...  The Angle is ice free.  Resorts are gearing up for the fishing opener which is expected to be excellent.  The late ice bite was very good and the walleyes are in good numbers amongst the islands area of the NW Angle.

Charcoal Briquettes are great for low and slow cooking as they produce long-lasting heat. Lump Charcoal burns hotter and adds more flavour to your food; therefore is great for hot and fast cooking.
