October Trip

I'm planning a trip to Mille Lacs on October 5th - 9th. At that time of year, does one use live bait during the day and crank baits at night? Are these dates okay or would sometime in September be better?

Joe those days should be good seeing the full moon is on 10/10 usually the later the better.I usually run all cranks that time of year and fish mainly after dark.During the day you can use live bait or cranks as well.

Yes, use cranks after dark. Find some rocks or a weed line and troll away. During the day, try anything, even bobbers if the wind is blowing. Also consider visiting the flats. People tend to shy away from the flats that late in the year but I have caught nice fish out there while pulling cranks during the day.
