Went out today around 4. Fished for Northerns from 5-sundown, then fished Crappies for a half hour. Got a 28" Pike on a tip-up, and a 34" Pike on rod and reel. Caught 6 Crappies, all small though.

Yup, life's not fair. When I had time it was below zero outside, now I'm lucky if I get to THINK about fishing!

Are the Norts still roaming shallow flats? I'm really gettin' an itch to come out and play.

hey tim, thanks again for the burger. did you happen to measure that one to see how big it actually was? i didn't get to measure it but i know it was the biggest one i've ever caught.

Went out and met tim and med man tonight. I was plannng all day on setting up tipups but tim convinced me to hang out and catch crap eyes.

Joe, I was planning on stopping in on the way out but the wife called and did some big time whip cracking. Turns out she has 1 1/2 hours between work and when she leaves for belly dance now. Apparently she wanted me home for that time on valentines....go figure :+)

Med man came out and somehow managed to sit on a crap eye (crappeie pants :0 . Sorry med I couldnt resist. Tim, I am lterally still almost in tears laughing when I think about it. He was so bundled up he didnt even know he was sitting on it. All in a days fun!

Anywho, all is fine on the home front and I got a couple hours of fishing. Tm did catch one really nice white and a pretty nice black today. Mine were all the normal med size. Probably wont make it back out until saturday. Good luck and to anyone sitting on chairs out on the ice....watch out for the crappies that jump out of the nearby holes and onto the chairs.

Are you guys finding that the bite is still really light. Last time I fished crappies they only liked the euro-larva.

We did some tip up fishing in the rain on sunday but might hit the crappies tonight.

For me it has been light for quite a while for the most part. There are a few aggressive fish but not too many. hen we had med mans camera down a few weeks ago it was surprising to see how many fish would suck in the bait and spit out with out the small icebuster event moving. I guess the 4lb or 6 lb line (thanks to waiting until all the light stuff was gone) and breaking my lutra ultralight rod doesnt help any.

Yeah. I'm not sure exactly where but I won't be far. Either the 40' hole or the west side looking for crappies. Probably 4:30 or so.

You guys ought to sign up for the summer west metro bass league. It's gonna be a blast! There are some threads on this site about it. It's going to be run by my son and his friend who works for the DNR so it'll be an honorable fun time and a good excuse to get together every other week and do some fishing! What do you think? It's gonna be on Monday or Tuesday nights. There's a meeting set for next Tuesday.

Found the crappies again last night, maybe its just me but the bit seems to be moving even later, we had action until 8:30 and they were still down there when we left. 2 weeks ago I could hardly get a nibble after 7pm.

I fished for Crappies yesterday from 2-3 and absolutely hammered them. I caught them one after another, I eventually got sick of them and moved to the points for Pike.

I'm going to guess that the crappies were in one of the more typical holes although I realize you seem to find them in other places as well!

I'm headed for the Backwater Brawl tomorrow but intend to fish Medicine next Saturday for sure so if you are out some next week for crappies and gills I'd love a little information. As always I'll stop at Harty's and get the lowdown from Joe so likely I'll be pointed in the right direction as well.

If you are going to be out on the 27th I'd love to fish with you for a bit! (FYI--my lantern runs on batteries so it might not be as hot)

I was out from 4:30 'til 7:00 last night. The bite started off good but died down about 5:30. It was picking up again at 7:00 right when we were leaving. Fishing in the usual spot in 40 FOW. Pretty slow over all.

Medman, I thought I saw you out there last night but when I walked over to the shelter to say "Hi" it was somebody else. Kinda funny!
