I’m without a boat and am going to take my father in-law out on a launch for a half day of fishing this spring. Can't really afford a personal guide so I thought for $60 we could at least be out on the lake fishing. Any suggestions on which resort to go through? I’ve never been out on a launch so any other comments or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

I usually have all my guys that work for me up for a launch once a summer, we have used Twin Pines and Eddy's, both with good results. We caught fish on both and both were very friendly and reasonably priced. I think it all depends on what time of day you are looking to go, they all have different time tables. Good luck.

I have always had good luck on the Headquarters launch. (west side of lake south of Garrison).

I've gone out of Myr Mar many times and had good luck most of the time. Find out who is running the boat before paying your money. Phil, the owner is friendly and works very hard to put you on fish. His brother Paul thinks like a fish; I've seen other launches follow him around the lake rather than do their homework. He will bust his butt to give you your money's worth. If Mike is taking the boat out, run, don't walk to their nearest competitor.

I have had a few great trips with Seguchie's. I'm not exactly sure if they are still running launch services since they changed owners. If anyone knows, please let me know. If they are I would recommend them.

Seems "MIKE" has made a round or two from launch service to launch service.

Not sure that it's the same one, but the one I had fished with would drive the launch out 5 miles and then realize he left the bait on shore. shocked.gif

Don't take me wrong, I'm not anti-technology.  Battery powdered items will always have their place.  I'm mean you don't want your girl friend or wife in the bedroom playing for their gas powered adult toys!!  That would be a bit loud and smokey!

That’s right. My 84 year old dad loves his electric chain saw. Light weight and quiet. Besides, at his age he’s not cutting a bunch. Where as myself I want something with more power and heavier duty.  Look at how many people have switched back to gasoline cars after running one in winter if you travel a lot.   As long as my strike master works I’ll keep using gas. Maybe my next will be electric, but who knows,  you can find used gas ones pretty reasonable as others buy electric.
