12/10 Report

Recommended Posts

Fished in 18 Ft. straight out of Morris Point from 8 to 3 today. Kept 5 Walleyes and 1 Sauger, threw back a bunch of little ones. If we would have dared to go out deeper we probably would've gotten into some more saugers. The ice was about 9" and not very good, it wasn't too weak, just not good. VERY choppy and it had sheets underneath it which wasn't fun when I was trying to bring one up. At 3 we moved into about 14 Ft. The ice was 6" and good. Got into a few nicer ones right away but that was it. They didn't want much to do with spoons, a green/yellow jig with a rattle and the living eye seemed to be the best. Also the new parrot color jig from Scenic Tackle worked well. (Thanks Jeff for giving me some samples last summer at the get together) Those things would be even better if they had a living eye on them.

Shiners caught everything and you really had to work the jig.

Thanks for the update. My buddies and I will be up there on the 16th with our Dads. I am o.k. with the ice condition but some of the dads are pretty worried. I guess hearing about 40 mph guests of wind this weekend makes me a little nervious, but happy to hear that people are catching fish.
