Night Bite???

I know the night bite on LOW is slow but, when the people in the sleeper house happen to catch a walleye at night are they generally bigger walleyes?

In the 5 years of renting a sleeper, totaling 20 nights, we have only caught one walleye at about 6pm. It was not a large fish, maybe 18" or so.

Eel pout can go crazy at night!!

Last year we rented a sleeper for the first time. We caught two walleyes around 10:30 pm. They were 18-19 inches. A little later, we lost a decent size walleye at the hole. Probably about 21 or 22 inches around 11:00 pm.

I always stay in sleepers and I always have lines down.

I just keep them 3 to 6 feet off the bottom to keep the pout from getting hooked.

I have'nt caught alot of eye's, but enough to keep me fishing after dark.

Rattle reels with bobbers and shiners are the way to go so you can keep rolling dice or shuffle cards! shocked.gif

To my supprise last year, we did catch them at night, about 4 per night.

I couldn't belive it when my buddy caught the 1st one and once he had 3 I put my lines back in. I always stay in a sleeper, It's nice to be fishing when they start biting.

I agree...if your gonna be out there anyway might as well fish if the holes arent froze over...but as alot of others have mentioned...you might get some bourbot/pout if you dont keep it off the bottom....but you might get some walleyes too!
