Just wondering who will be out fishing for the last weekend of open walleye? I will be up fishing many of the mid lake flats on saturday. There won't be many of us out there and I will be in my black sierra with my voyager if anybody wants to say hi. Looks like I am going to end the winter season without one slot fish. Good luck.

Bigeyes, how are you getting to the mid lake flats in your truck? I'm thinking of going up but have not fished the big pond since December due to the slow bite.

Mykal- I am not sure where I am going out of? I usually go out of public accesses if the ice is good and the snow is minimal. I have been in the Bahamas for a week, so I am not up to date on how the breakers are. I will likely stay clear of the sw end it was pretty bad 2 weeks ago. Maybe Garrison bay or N Garrison bay? If it is bad I usually just go to Terry's, no sense in taking a foolish risk for 10 bucks.

Going up on Sunday, Jerry Brandt's contest, I'll be staying out by Center Bar, Log cabin, 3 1/2 miles from access

I think it all helps to create motion and confusion to keep their attention away from the blinds.  The hurricanes seemed pretty important though.  6 of them per spread and moved around dependent on wind direction.  Some tall silo socks mixed in with them too.  Kill hole in the middle with a few decoys clustered over the e call.  7-8 batteries to run everything.  2000 decoys per spread.   I wasn’t the shot caller.  We were taking them at about 40 yards on average but I believe we could’ve gotten a lot of them feet down.  We all remember the single Ross’ that broke off from a group of snows hovering at 100+ yards and took the elevator all the way down to its demise.  The shot was called just before it lit but we were all sure if it was left alone, the audience above would’ve joined.  It was mesmerizing to watch to watch to watch how much they work a spread without flapping their wings much.   These pics were waiting for them to come down closer.  They did.

Never hunted conservation season. Actually get birds feet down or longer shots? I've been running battery operated flappers but does the rotary machine really help?
