hey cubbies chill out man. give people a chance to reply. ive seen you on many forums saying your buggin to get out on the ice and that you want people to give you info. well go out drivin and find some ice yourself and then tell everyone else. right now the ice is not that stable. within the past week weve had rain, freezing temps, and warm temps. that makes the ice non stable. your life isnt worth catching a fish. give it another week and you will be able to go fishing until then go get your stuff ready and wait. we all have to do that. if you really have to get out there go up north to red lake or low or something. mille lacs has some fishable bays in the southern part of the lake but be careful. im still waiting another week to get out there.

Hey back off, man I just wanted to know if there was going to be enough ice to make the trip up on friday, I didn't want to drive the hour and a half to find open water. Sorry I post often but I love to fish and talk fishing!

I have to agree with cubbies on this one, We don't all have the time or ability to drive an hour north to check on the ice. Thats why this is such a great website..people share info..I know I for one would never give out my hot spot to anyone but more than willing to give general info and I believe that is what Cubbie, I and a few other people are looking for. If it's too much of a burden....

cubbies11-

You can call up to Rocky Reef on the west side to find current ice conditions or check out their website. John posts ice conditions and is including a real-time camera of the lake this year, gotta be a first! Have known the owners for 10 years and are extremely friendly.

My guess is there is about 2 inches of re-frozen ice after the wind storm last weekend. Sounds like the south end is mess. Colder temps are in the forecast starting on Friday so it shouldn't be more than a week to have walkable ice across all of the big pond.

Geez, Cubbies ... how dare you use this site to find out how much ice there is!!!

The star trib said today that Cove Bay has five inches, but I haven't been able to confirm that.

I'm as excited as you are ... hoping to pop a few holes this weekend!

The lake froze over monday in that wind, amazing! The wind switched this morning and opened up the north end again. Hopefully it will freeze solid this weekend. There were 2 guys walking out in vineland bay this morning. Smaller lakes in the area have up to 8 inches of ice!
