Do any of the lakes in the area have 4-6 inches of ice? I will be up there this weekend, thanks for the help

yes, i have found a couple that do. but it got up to 50 degrees today so god knows what its like now.

find a lake that has good shelter from a north wind and you'll be fine. that was the only thing hurting ice as that little alberta clipper came through sunday and messed stuff up.

ivegottabite,

do so,

gf11 plays on the club hockey team and has games a lot on weekends so i'll probably have room for a fishing buddy on several occasions. i will also be home over break so wont be fishing until thereafter.

happy holidays until then...

Does anybody have any current ice reports?

Was wondering how much there is out there on the lakes.

Thanks

there was a good 6" on Labelle, (by lakepark) last week when I went, and have read that theres about 8-10" on O.T. out in front of Greystone on the west side. I was going to go to O.T. this morning, but was stupid enough to listen to the forecast which said high winds, heh, seems pretty nice out to me.

Sounds like after this week is over there should be plenty of ice all over the place. I heard that after today we are not supposed to see temps above zero until Friday.

Hello all, been busy at work, thus the lack of posting. I've been out a few times, ice is relatively safe, I've even seen some small cars out on Little Detroit, it has around 10-12inches. All the lakes in the area have fishable ice, just depends on how far out to go. Some bigger lakes just completely froze over in the last week but had fishable out a ways from shore. Been trying to locate some slabs but haven't had good luck yet, I'll find them eventually. Was up to Selkirk (norht of Winnipeg) to fish the greenback bite last weekend with WalleyeSnob, he got an 8lb 13oz beauty while I was skunked on big fish. We caught around 40 walleye/sauger in the 2 days there, averaging around 15 inches. I did, however, pick up my 13lb 5oz hog from the taxidermist in Winnipeg I caught during last years trip. Here's a picture.

Hope everyone has a safe Holiday season.
