4 Mile Bay

Will be heading to LOW in 2 weeks if there is enought ice. At this time of the year are you better off in the bay or out past Pine Island?

We have been going up there that same time of year for years. I would think you are definitely better off going past Pine. I think the ice is a little better out there too. We usually do very well in our week of fishing. Hopefully there is ice by then.

This year, two weeks from now, will be really early ice. I'm going to start in the Bay, and work out until I find fish (ice permitting).With the outstanding bite on the River right now (check Rainy River forum), my money is on the channel through the bay, out to Pine. A person may not have to cross the island until January this year.

I know the gap is a dangerous area in the winter with the current. Is this a concern also in the bay along the river channel?
