Smallies on Pool 2

Has anyone been picking up any smallies (or largemouth for that matter) on Pool 2? I have been driving up to fish the 'sippi in Monticello/Elk River for the last 2.5 months and I'm thinking of hitting something closer to home this weekend. I haven't fished Pool 2 since right after opener (early season bassin' on pool 2 can be awesome!!!).

If anyone has caught any bass on 2, any particular pattern, presentation, structure? Maybe I'll see some of you guys down there.

I caught 3 in about 3 hours trying for eyes on cranks. I was trolling close to shore on rip rap-size was decent 1/2-3/4 lb, 2lbs and 3lbs.

Dave - thanks for the response! I just have one more question for you, were you above or below hwy 5 bridge? I'm thinking of hitting Colby park or Minnehaha... Just trying to figure out what would be my best bet for catching some bronzebacks.

yes!

I caught one at the dam on the Mpls side, one right across from Watergate on the Pike Island side and I think the last one was just above the highway 5 bridge.

LOL. yes yes and yes huh... Well I'm hoping to hit one of those spots from shore this weekend - just depends on how much energy I want put into getting to my spot (hiking to the rip rap by the dam can be a long hike back and up the stairs). All three of the spots you mentioned are good smallie spots, hopefully whichever one I hit will be the "spot" for the day!
