Anything happening with panfish on the river. I've never fished this late in the season. Most times the boat is in storage and I'm hunting pheasants. However, with slug season coming up this weekend I think I'll put my orange away and try fishing. Are the normal haunts on Lake Pepin any good for walleye fishing this time of year.

The backwaters will offer up some outstanding panfish action, much of which is from shore. The lake may give up some fish yet, but the dams will outshine it. I think I'll do Red Wing in the morning. The fish have been strong there now for a while.
