Kinni, Rush, Willow Trout

fished the rush near ellsworth last sat....

saw tricos as we were riggin up but the rain sidelined us till 9 and it seemed the hatch was slowin down by then.... a few sporadic risers, but many fish seemed to be takin stuff under the surface, so eventually we switched to nymphs and the fishing picked up round noonish.....

caught lots of em on the standard pheasant tail/ hares ear combo with a few bead head caddis deals thrown in...... could have probably had a few more on top, but would have required re-rigging, so we didn't..... the nymphing was producing, so we stuck with it...... not much more surface activity to report-- i saw a couple size 18-20 mayflies with green bodies during the mid-day stretches..... no consistent risers.....

biggest o the day was a 14 incher-- lots of others in that range...... lost a couple i think might have run larger, but didn't get a good look at em, as they were in a deep pool..... got a couple red horse that had me thinkin i'd hooked into a lunker....

a good day, and still well worth gettin out even without the surface activity....

I fished the Rush last Saturday morning. Fish were extremely selective, even though there were quite a few fish rising. With the warmer temps, there were a few tricos coming off again. There were also a few pale morning duns. Hoppers are finally getting bigger, but the fish didn't even look at any of mine. Overall, fishing was slow with the best time around 8:30. I did hook three fish in the 14-18" range. Looks like it might have been my last time over to Wisconsin for the year, as my next two weeks are pretty full. Big Ethel evaded me once again this year. But then there's always next year.
