Bear Down Chicago Bears

lots of luck

Bears fans unite!!

Lets hope Daunte has another case of the small hands this weekend.

Lets hope that Hovan doesn't decide to show this game.

I would like to see Moss become aggrevated, let him take himself out of the game.

It's gonna be interesting without Mike Brown.

Stratos, good smack talk!!

It's hard to get too excited as a Bears fan, I am 26 and I have seen a lot of bad Bears football compared to good Bears football.

It's been almost all bad, except 01'.

After 4-6 games I should have a firm opinion, I think the Packers game can be compared to the dog's rear end and sunshine...

I think Hovan has shown his game and that's what worries winter park and viking fans. Oh, but I forget, he's being double and triple teamed all the time, ya that's the ticket.

I would say Hovan had about 10 tackles last seasons. He tries hard but he does not get the job done. Not sure why he gets the press he does.

Agree, Hovan hasn't shown his game in over a year. With the players they've added on the D Line you think his play would improve not get worse. He'll be lucky to be a Vike next year. Maybe he could go into WWE with a return of Brock. It would be a good tag team to market.

I have watched both games this year and I can't recall hearing his name associated with making a play yet? If that's the case, lets pull from the starting lineup and put someone else in.

I agree Hovan is not the answer to the D-line. Now the O-line is weak on the right for the rest of the year and good ol injury prone Jimmy is out all year too. But this doesn't mean that they can't win, but I don't think they are the powerhouse that they want/need to be. Tice better update his resume. How's the special teams doing Tice? How many kickers do you need?

OK I'm done ranting. At least we have the T-wolves!

I swear it's hell being a minnesota sports fan, all our teams get close, then break our hearts.

Kind of an ugly game, Bears were playing patented "Bear Football". Which resulted in the usual outcome. I do like the running back Thomas Jones for the Bears.

Oh you had to know you had absolutely NO chance of beating the Vikes in the dome! Mr. small hands has a pretty good QB rating last time I checked... I bet you wish you had a backup as good as Frerotte to plug in for Grossman.. I feel bad your going to have to route for this Quinn kid to pull out victories... Kind the same for that other football team in Illinois.. The Northwestern Wildcats QB got destroyed!!! Oh well atleast you beat the Packers and for that I salute all Bears players!!!!!

Buzzsaw,

I would not be too impressed with a 5 point victory over my squad, but a win is a win. Daunte can posts numbers, but I don't think he could take a team 90 yards to win a game, I know very few can. Remember who the Gophs just beat, Northwestern, not quite the perennial powerhouse.

I wasn't impressed either, as usual we played down to another teams level. I dislike using the woulda, coulda, shoulda... BUT I believe the purple should have scored 40 on you guys... we got a bad start out of the gates... credit to the bears I guess. I just had to throw in the Northwestern deal since your an Illinois football fan. The Wildcats have a decent team... or atleast we can agree that they've had worse teams. Whats your prediction on how the central division will shake out win/lose wise?

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
