Michael Bennett Trade?

unfortunately I have been watching the same moss. The one that puts "I" before team. I think it is a proven fact that one player does not make a team. I would rather have a player that hustles every play and not one that plays when he wants to and if he dont get the ball as much as he thinks he should he shuts down.

If Bud Grant was coach do you think Moss would be on the field? Trade Moss or give him away

I do agree with Deadminnowcatcher to a point. Yes, Moss is a whiner. But last year he did show up, I think he just needed time to mature. The way I see it just right the Moss Bandwagon until he goes nuts, then trade him for someone else.

As far as trading Bennett. I would think the Vikes would be more willing to trade Smith to the Dolphins then they would Bennett. It seems that Tice is a very big fan of Bennett.

I think Deadminnowcatcher must be a Packer fan. Why else would he be slamming Randy Moss and wanting the Vikings to trade him to another team?
Randy Moss is one of the best to ever play the game. Like it was stated earlier in this thread, the statement he made about not giving 100% to every play was blown WAY out of purportion. Watch some of the other receivers in the league sometime, when the play is to the other side of the field, some of them barely even get off the line of scrimmage. You can't put numbers up like he does if you are not giving it all that you need to give it. Just wait deadminnow until he actually DOES give 100%....then we'll see what happens.
I do not view Randy Moss as a whiner, look at T.O......that's a whiner. When you compare the two, Randy Moss is a pretty class act. I have never seen him yelling at Scott Linnehan on the sidelines because he thought he should be getting more balls thrown his way, nor have I ever seen him pull a sharpie out of his jock strap and sign a ball in the end zone. I have however, seen him hand a ball that he just caught in the end zone to a little boy sitting on the field in a wheel chair. What he does off the field is his own business, unless it harms someone else, which he has not done. That traffic cop saw an NFL star that committed a minor traffic violation and saw nothing but dollar signs in her pocket....nuf said.
Randy Moss is a GREAT football player, and if you think about what he has done for the Vikings organization, and what he does for kids back in his home town, you have to see that he is not the person that deadminnow has portrayed him to be.
So Deadminnow, keep hoping that your team will someday have a GREAT receiver like Randy Moss, until then, watch in awe, as Randy and his TEAM MATES roll to the big game this year.
Randy will get my vote for the HOF someday. And if you do read this page Randy, you are welcome in my boat or fish house anytime, just let me know when you are coming so I can clean them up a little.

I bet DeadMinnow never runs through a yellow traffic light, opens doors with a paper towel in his hand, waits for his green light at on-ramps, etc. Live a little bit man! Randy Moss didn't try to run a cop over...If it would have been DeadMinnow or myself driving it would not have been a big deal. The cop saw it was Moss and she saw money...bottom line. I have heard that over and over again. She claimed she suffered emotional damage from the incident...PLEASE! What a joke...she just wanted in on the money. Moss paid his fine, paid the poor little traffic cop a huge sum of money...get over it. What else does the man need to do?
I can't wait til mid-season when I see the DeadMinnow at the Metrodome wearing a #84 jersey!!!

If you were a vikes fan, I wouldn't think you would be so criticle of a Vikings player. Isn't that what team loyalty is all about? Being a "team player"? There is no I in team.

Dead minnow, Thats cool man you dont have to be a Moss fan. I'm a fan of his game and rare talent. There are former Vikes that I couldnt stand based on "on the field" actions like Dwayne Rudd-- the way he would dance around and do the slit your throat thing after a big play even though we were losing big at the time. Or like previously stated about Terrel Owens. Moss never does any of that stuffI, all he ever does is give a short flex at away games or jump in the stands at home games. I dont know exactly what kind of a person he is off the field since I dont know him personally. I dont judge people on what others say about them before I ever meet them. For all the bad thing said though I have heard he does good things for kids around here and his home town.I guess he just goes about it quietly. As far as his performance and wait untill mid season What inside info do you base your claims on? Is it the extra muscle he put on lifting all off season? Or all the study time in the film room he's been putting in? I'm very curious as to why you think he will be a bust this year? please reply so we have an accurate account for the mid season when we look this thread up.

Moss is one of the most active vikings players in regards to working with kids in teh community. He does a coouple of charity events every year. Visits kids in the hospital and gives out tickets to disadvantaged youth.

But of course you won't hear anything about this on the FOX pregame show. Not with "I hate Moss" and "Don't do my homework" Merrill Hodge.

I don't think you'll hear I told you so. this season. Moss has not been the viking's problem. A total lack of defense has been the vikings problem.

Quit trying to make Moss your whipping boy and check out the facts.

Nuff said.

Hey Deadminnow: There is an old American Indian saying, "Before you criticize a man, you must walk a mile in his moccasons." We are not on the playing field with him, we do not practice with him, we do not know him as a person. I just wish I could be on the playing field with him, so that I could say when he is elected to the HOF, I played with him. However, I am too old, too fat, and too injured to be able to do that. So I'll have to be content with watching a truely great athlete.

Moss does not have to answer to anyone, he says all he has to say with the numbers he puts up.
By the way deadminnow, you never did answer the question about what we will be seeing Moss do or not do at mid-season. I am kind of curious as to what you meant by that statement.

Do you think when he comes to the sideline and starts yelling at pepper that it motivates the rest of the team? Those are the types of things I am talkikng about. Or not blocking or not giving 100%. I have never stated that he is not very talented or that he will not get his catches- It is the other things that I think are bad for the "Team" Now you take someone like KG. I do not see him squirting a ref with a water bottle or getting in another players face and pouting on the bench- his constant hard play motivates the other players- Now if you are just about seeing catches for moss-then he is the man-But at what price? When I see him put in a full season of 100% I believe you will see a change in some of the other players and then we may have a chance to do something as a team. Chris Carter got sick of it and left?

Cris Carter was more of a problem than Moss is. It is not because Cris Carter got tired of it that he left, it's because the team got tired of Cris Carter.

Its like I said earlier dead minnow you obviously havent watched a game the last 2 years! Is this really Merril Hodge with an alias?? How can you not see through that **** the media has put on TV? Its all about controversy. The media could easily make a segment showing Moss as the hardest worker in the NFL if you pick the right plays, but what fun would that be for TV? You could take any NFL reciever and make a segment making the reciever look like a lazy azz. Showing Tory Holt or Eric Moulds doesnt sound quite as flashy as banging on Moss though.

DeadMinnow...
All of that stuff is old news...squirting the water bottle, yelling at Culpepper...man, that's 2-3 seasons ago! Cris Carter, who's that? He has been retired for awhile now...not because of Moss, he retired because his skills were diminishing and he couldn't play to his previous level. That is some pretty weak stuff you responded with DeadMinnow, why, I mean WHY will Moss be a bust this year??? We're all waiting for your inside scoop! Which color will the #84 jersey be? Purple, white, yellow, black, throwback? You'll sure look cool wearing the jersey of the best player in the NFL!

Hodge's brain is mush from all of the concussions he got while playing...seriously. Some of the stories I have heard are actually quite sad, like spending 2 hours looking for his car in a parking lot, or the extreme headaches he gets. But enough of him, lets go back to Moss.

Matt over in the Metro forum has Moss as a client of his guide service. Read some of his posts about how Randy loves to fish and wishes he could be a bass guide. I have heard nothing but good things about him from people who know him. It's like any superstar athlete, there's always someone who wants to bring you down no matter how good of a person you are.

Yes, he's not perfect, but people, especially young people, make mistakes. I know I did grin.gif. Last year he was hurting. How many of you have had plantar fascitis? I have and it's NOT fun. Just walking feels like you have spikes driving up through your heels. Imagine trying to play pro ball with it? Unbelieveable!!

Who was one of the only Vikes to make all of the weight sessions this year and last? Who went out of their way to work with the younger players?

Moss is a leader on that team in many ways. I think he says some of that stuff because he actually cares, unlike some pro players.

Those who bash Moss would bash someone else if he was not here, it's just their nature. Find someone who is more gifted then they are and nit-pick and find ANYTHING to tear that person down. Members of the media are especially guilty of this.

A little over a month away to the start of the road to the superbowl...SKOAL VIKINGS!!

sorry Tom but you are wrong; It is not my nature to bash others and if Moss was not here I would not find someone else to Bash. One player does not make a team but in my opinion one player can bring a team down.

"Those who bash Moss would bash someone else if he were not here" Those are your words, not mine. Obviously I do not think that having Moss on the team is good for the 'Team'. From the prior posts I am assuming that you feel I have been bashing Moss. It is my opinion that having him on the team drags the rest of the team down, for reasons that I have stated previously. Again I will not argue that he is very talented and will get his catches.

Last season I was at a local pub on a sunday up in a northern minnesota town, there were these drunken bafoons(the whole dang bar) in there bashing Dante. Not sure why, beacause he had just finished one of his stellar performances. Their reasons were, "Hes dumb" or "he fumbles to much" or "Gus is better" or
"I just dont like him". My theory was that they couldnt stand the fact that a black QB was going to be the next Joe Montana. There was even some Randy hatin' going on.
The next week we went back through the town and the bar had burned down to the ground. Every last inch of that place was gone. I Never heard what the cause of the fire was, But I suspect there was a higher, Purple Power at work that day. -True story

Its O.K. to be little criticle of the Vikes from time to time, but be carfull when, where and who you are bashin' cause you never know what could happen.

It's like that commercial for the Twolves...lol

I also think a lot of that is racially motivated (better be careful or someone might think I am refering to him...LOL) wich is pretty darn sad.

Yep...Culpepper/Moss...the next Montana/Rice!

Well put Tom. Dead minnow how come you only answer certain posts? Why dont you answer my question of how you know moss is going to be trouble or have a bad year? and how do you know he is a bad guy inside the team? are you the towel boy or something? If you dont spend time inside the team how do you know what he's like to everyone? Or are you just another dillusionall, packer fan? C'mon man we want answers to back up your claims.

Tom and Island Dude, I think you are both right. I don't know what this deadminnow's problem is. He just has some personal problem with Moss and nothing anybody says will change the way he feels. I personally, don't think that Randy Moss brings the team down, seems to me that when he catches 3 touchdowns in one game, it tends to bring the team up rather than down. Granted, he doesn't catch 3 touchdowns every game, but that also does not bring the team down. As for his blocking, he is not paid to block, he is paid to catch footballs. Occasionally there is a time when he needs to block down field, but I personally have never seen him intentionally not block someone and let one of his team mates get creamed.
So deadminnow why don't you just keep your little personal vandetta against Moss to yourself, can't you see that all of the REAL Viking fans here are not in agreement with you? We as Viking fans stand by our players....ALL OF THEM....because we are loyal to our team. I don't know how you can call yourself a Viking fan when you bad mouth the players like you do.

O.K minnow a little lesson. lineman block, running backs block, Q.B's recievers and kickers do not. Other than a little stand up and shove a guy once one way because they are running to his side a reciever doesnt block. and why would you ever run to Moss's side anyhow, he's without a doubt the best decoy in football. use some common sense. your 6 foot 4 , great hands, the best in the league at adjusting to the ball when its in the air, and fast as they get. BUT your skinny as a beanpole and cant block very good so I dont want you on my team. Going by your criteria the Vikes should dump moss and make Jimmy Kliensasser the #1 reciever. he never gets mouthy or yells at anyone and blocks great! Every time minnow posts he shows us he really doesnt know much about football and just enjoys stirring the pot. By the way I challenge you to name a few of the top "blocking" recievers of all time along with how many game winning blocks they had??

This post is not in defense of DeadFish or whatever that guys name is nor is it a knock on Randy Moss......but blocking downfield is a definite part of the position of WR. It is not what they are labeled for but it is a big part of what they do. Think of all of the long runs by running backs......a large percentage of them are sprung by a block from a wide receiver. The last guys left to stop the running backs are the secondary and guess who stands in their way.....Wide Receivers.

I know first hand as I played the position through college. You are taught from day 1 to block downfield whether the ball is coming to your side or not. You may not be good at it but you don't need to be, you just need to get in the way.

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?
    • LakeofthewoodsMN
On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
