Elk River Dam?

I know I askd this in a previous post but did not get specific directions. I drove main street due West until I hit a stop sign where main street turned left. About 1/2 block down on the right side I saw what appeared to be a dam, but I saw no one there or any sign of activity for that matter. Is this the dam or am I way off.
I would like to check this place out sometime if someone could help me find it.

If you are talking about the dam on Lake Orono, thats the one.

basguy31, is that Orono lake on the right side of main street? Does Orono hold crappie and walleye?

Mykal...don't bother with Orono...it's been drained twice in the last 2 years. I doubt there's anything in there worth keeping...I haven't found out why they've been draining it, unless it's to kill the roughfish. It could also be an effort to clean up the waters, since the Elk River tends to be a nasty, farm polluted flowing river (the water looks like yukky doo-doo, ooogly poop!)

I think they drained it to work on the dam and to dredge out orono, it gets choaked with silt as the years go by. As far as the bite goes, I've heard it has been pretty slow, although some years it has been pretty hit and miss, one day fill out on eyes in a matter of an hour, the next not a touch (kind of sounds like fishing in general, huh?)

Yep that's lake Orono on the right hand side. It has both Crappie and Walleye, I've never heard of anyone having any luck fishing it. You can fish on the ice below the dam, you will catch small walleyes 10-12 inchers some crappies. The ice is very questionable though, you'll be fishing less than 20 feet away from open water.
