West Rush or East Rush for walleyes?

Recommended Posts

BuckslayerBob

I have yet to catch a walleye on Rush. We have stayed on the West side and have worked the structure and the shallows around islands. Which lake is better for fishing walleyes? East or West? We've did well going for bass and sunnies on the west side. Please give me guidance! smile.gif

I have found the walleye still to be on the deep weed lines in both lakes. inside corners connnected to large flats are your best bet.wind direction is a determining factor especially if it has been from the same direction for more than a couple of days .try fishing 10 to 14 on breezy days deeper on calm. morning bite is very strong and at least two hours before dark. leeches have worked when in deeper calmer water minnows when shallow.crawlers have produced and also jig and minnow. do not over look fish that you mark as high as 4 feet off bottom a little air can go a long way. good luck .

Hey Bob!

I havent been out walleye fishing much in the last few weeks on Rush, but, I would try any of the weed breaks on either lake. We had been doing good in 18-24 feet of water on West, but, I havent tried in the last few weeks. Good luck to ya!

Thanks @knoppers.   I’m about to head over to that general area.  Makes me wonder if I should load the wheeler.

What length of the HT BLUES are you looking for? I've seen some 24" @ Walmart stores. Some in the rod/reel combos n some just the rod itself. I got my 30" frm Frankie's bait in Chisago so if you're in that area you can check it out or give them a call. I remember seeing some @ Blue Ribbon baits in Maplewood also. You can also give them a call. I hope this helps.

I shoot through the bottom..  Use plumbers putty to make a ring and use some to keep the diversity in place.   I just add enough water to make a good conductor.  Works great.  No worries about snagging the ducer outside the boat.  As for finders I have an old fish eagle, buddy just picked up a battery operated color unit from amazon says it worked good.
