I cruised the soutern half of the East Central Lakes area today. I didn't even see ice around the edges yet. frown.gif In fact, the ponds were having a tough time holding any ice.

Has anyone been out fishing (in a boat)? Bow hunting? Muzzleloading? Grouse hunting? Squirrel hunting? Shootin' tin cans? Anything? Good Lord, I'm starting to get cabin fever already.

Cory, have you seen any boats out on Rush?

Let's get an ice chant going...More Ice! More Ice! More Ice...

If you see someone in the area standing on shore with an auger in one hand and a ladel in the other, gazing into the abyss of open water, that's me. Don't talk to me however, I'll be concentrating on making ice.

Yeah, this is pretty sad. I also did the drive around here in the East Metro. Saw a few ducks, but very little ice. I did manage to get out on some good ice yesterday, but I was quickly thrown out by the rink attendant. Al I wanted to do was test my auger blades to see if they were still sharp!!

As of this morning there isn't even a hint of ice around the edges of Rush????? If I could get my boat out of the snow bank I would let you know how the open water bite is going.... Maybe hat should be my project for tonight! Its frustrating last year at this time I had some of the best ice fishing I have ever had in my life with one walleye going over 30 inches! Think ice!!!!

Don't take me wrong, I'm not anti-technology.  Battery powdered items will always have their place.  I'm mean you don't want your girl friend or wife in the bedroom playing for their gas powered adult toys!!  That would be a bit loud and smokey!

That’s right. My 84 year old dad loves his electric chain saw. Light weight and quiet. Besides, at his age he’s not cutting a bunch. Where as myself I want something with more power and heavier duty.  Look at how many people have switched back to gasoline cars after running one in winter if you travel a lot.   As long as my strike master works I’ll keep using gas. Maybe my next will be electric, but who knows,  you can find used gas ones pretty reasonable as others buy electric.
