A Sad Sad Day

I know this isn't about fishing, and I'm sure most of you know by now, but Minnesota lost a legend today, Herb Brooks. What a great man, everything he did for hockey in Minnesota and the nation as whole. From winning the Olympic Gold in 1980 to coaching in various NHL and College organizations. He really is any Hockey Fans Hero.

I called my Grandfather today to send my regards, see Herb was his 2nd cousin (I think)and a really good friend. Grandpa seemed a bit in shock still and was just trying to figure everything out. He told me how he had just seen him a couple weeks ago at the old timers game and that they had chatted for some time. Please say a prayer tonight for Herb Brooks family and friends.

One of the biggest thrills of my life was watching his U.S. team beat the Russians when I was just a kid.

He will be missed by many for his outstanding contributions to hockey.

Rest in Peace Herb. I will miss you

I myself grew up in St. Paul. My father played against Herbie al the way through high school. Herbie for Johnson and my dad for Cretin. I was 4 years old when the miracle happened, but can remeber my father going crazy. Hockey was the number one sport in our family.

No man has done more for the American hockey player than Herb Brooks. The only thing I can say is he was The Miracle Worker.

God must have needed one hell of a coach...
