Trout season is closed MN. But some options could be catch and release smallie fishing on the Root or Zumbro, or head to Lake Superior, and fish for salmon in the rivers up to the barriers.

I have an avid fly fisher friend coming in from Canada this weekend. He wants to go fly fishing on Monday. I live in Minneapolis. Any ideas where to go within 1-2 HR drive of Minneapolis?

There are some trout streams and small rivers across the River and in Southern Dakota county near Farmington; such as the Cannon river. Also-- try this post on the Metro Area lakes and rivers fourm instead
