Cindy Memorial Celebration

Recommended Posts

Well I think we've finally got most of Cindy's Celebration together. A
few details left to work out but all in all it's a go. Her Celebration
is scheduled for Sunday September 8th (Cindy's Birthday) at around noon.
It will be held at St. Bernards Catholic Church (210 Church St E) here
in Cologne.

All friends and family are invited.

After church, if you so desire, we can all head down to Cindy's favorite
watering hole for a libation or two in her honor and maybe some eats.
FYI.... GREAT burgers!!!

Dan,

Unfortunately many of us will be up on Big Pine fishing the last L.E.T.'S event of the season and won't be able to make it. frown.gif

I will, however, be there in spirit and remember there's always an open seat in my boat for you.

Howdy All...

I'm sorry that some of you won't be able to make Cindy's Celebration. You will be missed. Seeing that it is the last L.E.T.'s event, I know Cindy will understand.

I would still like to meet each and everyone of you fine people. So let me throw out an idea and see what you think.

A small (or large) get-together (in Cindy's honor of course) for the people that won't be able to make it on September 8th. Nothing fancy or formal, just a gathering of friends. Maybe spark up a grill or two. A few of your favorite cold ones. Good conversation. Good company. Good music. She really liked that sort of thing. Probably still does!! smile.gif We can work out the details as far as when and where as we go along. Maybe even have it right in our backyard around a bonfire. (Skeeters permitting)

What do ya think?

Dan

I would enjoy that, as well, because I'm gone all but one weekend in Sept.

I'm hoping that we'll get a chance to meet each other on Mille Lacs on the 14th (D-man's Launch Adventure).....that will be my only chance to raise a glass and pay respects in person.

Looking forward to the honor of meeting you, Dan.

OOOPS!! I guess I forgot about the F.M. Launch Adventure. Huskminn, I'll see you there. So that weekend is out. (9/14) what about the following weekend? September 21st?

How does this date work?

Howdy All!!!

Well Cindy's Celebration has come and gone. It was WONDERFUL!!!! A small turn out, mostly from my side of the family that couldn't make the funeral in Illinois. As well as Cindy's friends from her present job and even past positions dating back close to 10 years. To say the church was FILLED with love would be the understatement of the year.

After the celebration mass, we all moved out to the parking lot where we released balloons with small notes containing an email address. So you folks north-north east of Cologne, keep your eyes peeled. Then it was over to J&D's 212 Club for food and libations.

We tipped a glass and talked of Cindy. One round was dedicated as being from our FM family. (I trust jose gold was a good choice? A Cindy favorite)

I would like to publicly thank EVERYONE who help bring this to reality. Ya done good!!! REAL GOOD!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HONEY!!! We all love you!!!

Dan

The FM get together is in a holding pattern right now. The dern skitters out back are still a bit on the blood thirsty side. I'm still planning on having it. Keep watching this thread for updates.

Gretchen, thanks for asking.

Hey Dan...
So is your get-together this Saturday, or Sunday? Can you throw out some details? Are you still aiming for noon?

On the south end...   Good fishing this week with nice numbers of walleyes and saugers.   A jig and frozen emerald shiner again this week is the go to presentation for walleyes.  Rainbows and fatheads are also working and it is nice to see what the fish want each day.   Various areas across the south shore are holding fish.  Most walleyes and saugers are being caught in 17 - 24' of water.  Anglers are anchoring up and vertical jigging. A quarter ounce jig in gold, glow white, pink, orange, chartreuse, or a combo of these colors tipped with a minnow worked well again.  Pound the bottom, jig it up in the strike zone, hold.  Trying shaking the jig and lifting it off of the bottom.  Any kind of weight will be a fish hanging.  Set the hook! A mixed bag while fishing walleyes include pike, jumbo perch and a few crappies.  On the Rainy River...  Some nice walleyes caught  this week on the river in 10 - 15' of water.  Typical spots such as holes, current breaks, weed edges and rocky areas all can hold fish.  There are 42 miles of navigable waters from the mouth of the river all the way to Birchdale.    Sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River is closed until the keep season starts up again July 1st.   The river holds good numbers of smallmouth bass for those interested in bronzebacks.  A lot of bass are caught by unsuspecting walleye anglers. Up at the NW Angle...  A great week of fishing.  As typical with guests staying at the Angle, some fish MN waters, some slide over into Ontario waters.  Both areas are producing.     Points, neck down areas and bays with warming water have been holding walleyes.  With warming waters, fish are in transition and there are lots of fish.   The goto presentation is a jig and minnow.  Gold, glow white, pink and orange are good colors.

I don't fish any secret lakes. I research the lakes on the DNR website with good walleye numbers. I spent a lot of time learning side imaging. I'll scan for an hour or two if need be to find the fish. Nothing crazy for techniques. Either pitching a jig or back trolling with lindy rigs. If either of you two ever want to go let me know

Smurfy, you know where that Kettle guy fishes?  Might have to sneak over there! 🤫

So much rain these past few weeks. I only seem to get days off post cold front. Made the most of it recently. Water Temps still in the 50s. Not sure the crappies have even spawned, definitely not the bluegills. Walleye still really shallow

Took my dad out Sunday afternoon SW of St Cloud. Spot Locked in 8-9 ft on weed edge.  Caught several crappie and sunfish in just the one spot.  Also caught several 3 inch bass.  Pesky little things. Both crappie and sunfish  had eggs. I expected the crappie to be done, as I know sunfish need warmer water yet.  Temp on locator was 65. First fresh fish since last fall. Very tasty.
