Friday night 3 of us fished from 7-10 and got 10 fish with three in the slot. Also got 2 26" fish. All but one were caught bobber fishing in 11.5 ft. of water. Saturday morning from 7-2:30 we caught 9. With two under the slot, one in, and six over. My brother who is 13, I'm 16 caught 3 fish all weekend- 2 28" and 1 27". Those fish were caught in 17-22 ft. of water on rigs and leeches. Crawlers caught more fish but were smaller-around 20.5-21.5. Caught 2 fish trolling taildancers in 12 ft. of water near shore when the wind died down.Total 19 fish caught with 2-28" 1-27" 2-26" great trip.

The walleyes were bitting good out on the east side. Three of us and in total we caught fifty-one walleyes with fourteen of them in the slot. We had two at 27" and a 26". Very few were under 16". A lot were between 20" and 22". Nice perch were mixed in with the walleyes too. Can't wait for next weekend.

My uncle and I fished the sand in front of Fisher's Resort with lindy's/leeches on Friday and fished Agate reef with slip bobbers in the evening - we caught 15 total, 4 in the slot, one over (21 incher), most of these were caught in late afternoon.

Saturday I went out alone out of Isle. Caught 11 total, 6 in the slot, 3 under, a 21 and 24 incher - caught these fish on Lindy's/leeches and slip bobber/leech, both using a #8 red hook. The bite seemed to be good all day, very gratifying.

The cold lousy weather could really hurt the bite today. We moved away from the crowd in front of Fishers and fished where there were no boats and did well in 13 feet. It wasn't a hot bite but we did pick up 5 in the slot and alot of them over. The bite on Sunday was alot slower then Saturday. I talked to a few boats that anchored on Agate Reef, they caught alot of fish but not many were slots. Most were in the 21 to 23 inch range. The coldfront will bring a tough bite today in the sand.

Muskieman - Any guess as to how long it might take for the bite to warm back up a bit? We were thinking about a trip up tonight (monday) but now feel we'd be best to wait until later in the week. Any suggestions?? Thanks! - Gadget - NEVER MIND! - I just looked at the details of the weather for this afternoon/evening, temps falling into the 40's, wind chills in the low 30's, scattered rain........I think for me the weather needs to warm before I need the bite to warm!!! hehehe..... I don't want you to think I a total pansy, but .........my momma raised a crazy boy, not a fool!!! (If I lived on the lake, I'd most likely still go out, but not going to travel, launch and travel back to the cities for tough cold front conditions!) Be there this weekend!

Insp Gadget; There are only 2 boats in front of my house tonight and I can see from Fishers to Carlsona's. I talked to Aaron McQuiod today and even he is not going out. I am sure the PWT fishermen had a brutal day. Good evening to relax and return phone calls. I would expect the bite to pick up starting wednesday. If we get stable weather for a few days things will really heat up again.

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
