Lots of anglers reporting catches of smallmouth, not heard of any big big guys yet but lots of 2# plus action. Shallow water near the rocks and rockpiles doing good. guts

I caught a few nice ones last year, but you guys seem to be hitting them harder. What is the trick. I use a rapala and hit the shallows and get a few. Do you guys use jigs, or live bait? I will be up there in 1 week for a few days of R&R

We've mainly been catching the smallies off of rocks dropping to about 7-10 feet of water. After that, the next best place for us was where the rocks met up with a shallow bay.

We use a multitude of lures, however the one that produced the most smallies for me was a Yozuri Suspending minnow. It has a black top, silver shiny side, and orange under belly. I use a lot of twitches on the retrieve. I believe you can't reel it in too slow.

That might help.

If you see a black crestliner with a grey 200HP yamaha, give a wave.

Good luck.
