Fishing report- 12/9/00

Recommended Posts

The fishing activity in the Willmar/Spicer area is in full swing. With the cold temps this past week, many lakes have between 6-10" of good solid ice. Green Lake just froze over on the 1st, so use caution, especially if you want to venture to the mid-lake structure.
As for catching fish, NOW is the time to be on the ice. Very good reports are coming off of Diamond, Foot, Eagle and Norway.
Here is a round up of what's going on in the area-

Foot/Willmar Lake-
Good reports of lots of Walleye and Crappie. The size is generally small, but sorting through the many fish will produce some nice keepers. Morning and evening have been the best for walleye, with mid-afternoon producing crappie.

Diamond-
Evening and early morning producing walleye on sweedish pimples and varnmit lures. many small fish, but good action.

Ringo-
Nice sized walleye and crappie being caught very early in the morning and evening. Key seems to be getting away from the crowds and noise. Fish are being caught in 8 to 5 feet of water.

Norway-
Walleye are starting to become active especially in the evening. Reports of a few ATV's being used and "crappie town" is starting to recieve it's first residents.

Nest-
Walleye and pike are being caught in front of the acsess, right off the breakline.

A few other lakes to consider are Eagle, Florida, Elizabeth and Long.

Good luck and safe ice to all!!!!
