What's the musky activity been like lately around the smaller Longville area lakes? How about Leech? Everything I've been hearing, it's been pretty slow. Has it started to pick up at all?

A fwe fish have been caught but it's almost a repeat of last year. It's been terrrrrible!<BR>Bemidji is the one lake in the area that has produced some fish with consistantcy.<BR>Hope I didnt rain on your pick nick.<BR>Terry<BR>Terry's Guide Service

Thanks for the response Terry. Unfortunately, I must say your report was right on. We fished Leech on Saturday without any action what so ever.

I spent all day on Leech and this break in the weather seems to have made things worse.<BR>I worked a lot of great areas before the wind cranked up and saw only a few fish on deep cranks and believers.<BR>Hopefully the weather will stabilize.<P>Keep trying otherwise you will never know if the bite is on. fished wabedo a few times last week.......fishing was pretty slow, but did recieve lots of follows on weed points with deep water around them. the fish really seemed sluggish and not interested at all.....maybe this break in the weather will change that.

THANKS ALOT TERRY, WE HAD A HUGE COLD FRONT IN OHIO THAT SHUT THE FISH OFF. WE NEED A FEW DAYS OF STABLE WEATHER. WE USUALLY CAN GET A FEW NICE NORTHERNS OUT OF URAM REGARDLESS.

Fished for musky with a guide last week for 1 day. 5 followers and the guide landed a musky in the mid-40's. Lots of fun!

Any new Leech Lake muskie news from this weekend? I have had a POOR season there. Can't even buy a follow in my favorite spots. Small part of the lake vs big lake? Maybe I should fish for walleyes this coming weekend instead?

      Made a quick trip before the weekend rush on Vermilion.  Ice was in very good condition.  Didn't see any slush or water on any of the roads out from McKinley Park.  There are plowed roads on both side of the staked snowmobile trail coming out from the landing.  The road to the left goes out toward Birch Island, and there is a spur road going to the left (west) a couple hundred yards out.  The road on the right side goes out toward Ely Island.  There is a short spur road going east about half mile out.   The water came up under my fish house about another 1½ inches when I drilled my holes.  Looks like I will be going back up early next week to block my house up higher.  The small amount of new snow is really drifting up and adding weight.  You may get water on the ice, or find slush if you drill holes in new areas.  There is about 15% bare ice where the wind has blown it off.  Many of the drifts are very high and hard, so you could get stuck on them.   Fishing was average.  Best bites were from 9-10am and 11-1230 when I quit.  Biggest walleyes was only 16¼", then the next biggest was 13.75".  Reporting lengths in quarter inches because I can't seem to find any big walleyes.   Good luck fishing, be careful driving around, and be courteous to others.
