Smallmouth

Rick and I fished the Clementson Bay for 2 hours and caught 8 smallmouth bass along with some northern. Half of the smallmouth were about 2-pounds. Most of the pike were small, however one was big enough to keep. We released all the fish we caught.

With the high level of the river, there are a few feeder creeks that you can now access for some great pike fishing.

We plan to fish again in a few days - will let you know how they ar hitting and the conditions of the Rainy.

Hi Rick & Sandee- Finally got on the river last night but only fished Clementson Bay.
My son and I boated 12 smallies and 1 northern. No real pig smallies but nice ones.
I had a water temp reading of 63 degress. Lots of suckers surfacing and lots of pelicans feeding on them. I can never remember the pelicans being so many and so brave in the Bay before. Hungry I guess.

Just a reminder - Smallmouth bass and northern pike are open all year on the Rainy River because we are border waters.

Fishing has pretty much shut down with the cold front. We got 1" of rain overnight and it was snowing today. Temperature is 32 degrees now.
