I am looking for a nice place to stay on Lake Vermillion the second week in June. I have never been on the lake before and am looking for a nice place to stay (Nice is my wife's word). I am looking for suggestions. Some places you would recommend?? Some places we should avoid??

My definition of nice is: For 2-4 People, screen porch, fireplace would be nice but not necessary, with kitchen and below $1000 for the week and not run down.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Tight lines to everybody.

Mike,
If you are talking about Everett Bay Lodge you have picked a great place to stay.
There are a lot of pike and musky fishermen that stay there so you should be able to get some good info. from them and the lodge owners.
June and July are also excellent times to fish for pike and musky. The walleye and bass bite are also great at that time of year.
Good Fishing !!

Hi Guys,
Everett bay lodge is "nice" they also have a pool for the youngsters. smile.gif
It may be difficult to get a week in june as most of the resorts book a year in advance.

Here are some other resorts, that I can recommend.

Bay View lodge, 800-628-1607
Bar & restaurant.

The lure of the loon, 800-832-5988
(indoor pool)

forest lane resort, 800-826-6070
quiet!

Retreat Lodge & resort. 800-682-6296

Vermilion Dam lodge, 800-325-5780 restaurant & fireplaces.

The Glenmore resort, 800-538-4101
great location

One of these should fit your needs.

If you want to stay on the west end, I would reccomend Vermilion Dam Lodge and Muskego Bay Resort. I have had good experiences at both places.
Ace how has the fishing been up there? I just got back from a weekend on Mille Lacs and we had pretty good luck. 4 26"inchers and a nice group of 16-19". It was a good weekend to get away and do some fishing. Can't wait to get back up to Vermilion.

Keep the lines wet

Hi Jason,
The fishing here has been very slow, It
has been that way for about the last 3 weeks.
I just came back from LOTW on monday, I
was with a group of 8, we caught well over 100 walleye and sauger in 3 days.

I'll heartily recommend the WHITE EAGLE RESORT on LAKE VERMILION. The grounds are well maintained & all cabins are in beautiful settings among pines & birches. Their cabins are excellent. Some of the cabins are new construction & some are modernized older cabins, but even the finickiest Mom will be pleased with any of them. We have stayed in a 'lot' of resorts over the years, but since we discovered WHITE EAGLE 4 years ago, it has become our only choice. Best of all, their rates are LESS than many others on the lake -- go figure! The owners & their kids are congenial hosts & truly become your friends & work hard to make sure every detail of your stay is first-class. The resort has the usual amenities (bait, gas, bread/milk/juice/eggs, small tackle shop, laundry, sauna, free loan of life jackets, pleasant un-smelly fish house, etc.). Mike keeps several good rental boats plus a pontoon available if you need an extra craft or two. There's a golf course minutes away. The town of Cook is about 10 minutes away with two supermarkets, churches, McDonalds, good bait/tackle stores, small hospital if 'God forbid' needed, etc. Good sit-down restaurant about 5 minutes from the resort to give the ladies a break from cooking. LAKE VERMILION, besides being one of the most beautiful lakes in MN, is an excellent fishery & WHITE EAGLE is in a quiet bay on the west end of the lake with great walleye, smallmouth, northern & muskie spots within a few boat-minutes from your dock.

Highly recommend Muskego Point! Great location and VERY nice owners. Very busy that time of the year though, doubt if you can get a reservation. Awesome sand beach if there are kids!

I have stayed at Everetts Bay for a number of years and it was expensive but still a good value. I was disappointed in Bayview, not kept up very well. We now stay at the Casino and my wife wonders what she was doing making beds. I have checked availability at the casino and private cabins for this summer and lodging is limited. I think people are looking for destinations they can drive to. CJ

Nice!   It would be great if they had some kind of brake, so you don't end up on your neighbors YouTube video going down the driveway! 😆

Last month I went searching online for a trailer jack with pneumatic tires. Instead I found the video below showing a relatively quick and easy upgrade to your existing jack:     It's worked pretty well. I definitely had to mess around with finding the right combination of spacers, washers, and locknut pressure that wouldn't bind up the wheels. However, it is a pretty sweet setup and allows me much better control. We live at the end of a half-alley. My garage faces the end so when I need to hook my boat up to the truck, I have to pull it out into my driveway and then swivel it 180 degrees to face towards the street. The handle is what really makes the difference and now the trailer jack wheels don't slide on the asphalt. Has anyone else done this conversion?

I've got a pile of crawlers ready to go - a nice side benefit of all the rain in the metro lately.   At the very least, I hope that the remaining trappers are making some better money off of the higher prices. I would think that it would be a great way for local kids to make some cash. I can see why it wouldn't make for a great way to make a living as an adult.

Went out yesterday with the sunshine. I did find crappies in the shallows on a darker stained lake with Temps at 58 degrees. They had no interest in my baits

That's part of it.  Several recent years of drought have definitely played a role.   There's other factors too.  MN does not allow importation of live bait from other states either.  That really affects the amount of golden shiners available, most of which are not trapped here.  In other words, demand exceeds supply.   Lots of bait trappers and dealers have simply hung it up in recent years.  Its hard work for not much money.  The two nearest me are both done as of last October.  They both told me its just not worth it anymore.  One of them had been there for 45 years.   My advice would be to learn how to effectively fish with artificial lures more often.  I've slowly weened myself off the use of live bait nowadays.

Think the Free crawlers in the back yard are going to take a hit this summer! 🤭

Correction, rainbow minnows are at least 75 cents each, and leeches are $60 per pound. lol

Their coming! Was poking around southern center mn last Friday and found about 20 on a hill side, all to small to pick yet.  Spots on the GPS! 🤗

Water Temps 48-52. I tried for crappies and caught two walleye. I can't even crappie fish. 1/32 ounce jig and a tiny minnow
