Went out in the rain yesterday south of town for the first time and picked up 4 really nice catfish; frogs were the ticket. I have a question though. Does the river stay deep all the way to the next dam to the south. I have only been out at Johnson park a few times and the river is so much shallower there. Does it get any deeper farther north of town?

From the South access to the South, the river is much deeper than you've seen up North at Johnson Park. If you're looking to run the rig suggested by your handle, I'd lean towards the South. The section from the mid-town dam South isn't too bad either. In low water, the North section is bad news for props and skags.

Regardless of which section your on, tread lightly. It's a dangerous place to run your boat fast. Keep it slow and watch the surface for disturbances in the water's flow.
Good luck!

We have been using my dad's 16' aluminum fishing boat so we shouldn't hit much. Why is the river deeper to the south? Is it because of the dams, curious for a reason? I didn't think that they held back that much water.

Thanks

I think it's deeper down there because there's a greater distance from the surface of the water to the bottom of the river grin.gif
