Catfish advice for a newcomer?

Recommended Posts

CPRBASS

Hello,
I am new to the whole catfish scene, but I am back at school in the Fargo-Moorhead area and I would like to give it a try. Any advice on where to start and what to do/use as far equipment, rigging, bait, and hints/tips for this time of year? I probably won't have a chance to go by boat so I will probably have to fish from shore. How much will this limit my chances? Anything that can get me started would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Read over the posts on this and the Catfish thread and then come back with some detailed questions so we can help you better.

Gobs of great info already hear just look through it and see what helps.

Into fall your chances from shore are often better for cats and walleye, so don't get bummed your not in a boat.

Most of my biggest fish come from 1-3' of water on the shore in the fall, day or night.
