Do you have to have a certain license to have a boat on the river. Also am wondering how old you would need to be to drive the boat. thanks

You do need to have the boat licensed in one state or another, usually the state you live in.

Age of an operator is listed in the fishing regulations you get with the proclamation, or see the DNR web site or the NDG&F site for info. You may very well need to take a boat safety course to be able to operate a boat under the age of 18 without a adult in the boat at the time?

Check your home states requirements for young boat operators and clinics for safe operation of a boat. The safety class’s are well worth the time and will also make boating a better experience for you.
