Antlers in velvet

Can somebody tell me how to take a care of a deer that was shot and the horns were still in full velvet? I would like to mount the horns.

Looks like an early season bow hunter has found some success- way to go!!! I won't get out for a week or two. How bad are the mosquitoes?
I don't know what to say about the velvet, I've never taken one in full velvet. I'd call a local taxidermist asap and ask about it- they'll know what to do.

Scoot, thanks for the reply. We hunt in NW Minnesota and the little buzzers are still nasty, especially from a ground blind. I got up 16 feet in the air last night and only had a few.
