The river is looking better.....How bout it?

I was down below the dam today for an hour
or so and caught a few Sheephead a couple
small Rock Bass and one nice Crappie.

There was a kid fishing near me with 3 real nice Walleyes and another group of kids had 4
Crappies. It was good to see kids down fishing and also cool to see them have some
fish.

By the way, these guys were 12 to 13 years
of age and seemed to a have a good grasp
on what needed to be done. River Rats of the
future!

I have heard rumblings of pretty good fishing
on occasion. Whats goin on?

The last two weeks the crappie fishing has been nothing short of fantastic. There have been limits caught in as little time as 1/2 hr. allmost all of the fish are in the 11in. to 14in. class. Most of the fish are coming on live bait. For me the walleyes have been coming on cranks along with a few smallmouth.

I have been pickin away at some darn fine
Crappies this week. Someone who knows what
they are doing could probably really get
busy on the 12 inchers.

The big rains are really pouring over the
dam but when they settle down that should
really be good again.

The river rats are doing well and the rest of
us can catch a few now if you give it a try.

The smallmouth have really taken off especially in the RLF area. Reports have it that they are still using cranks and there have even been a few walleyes taken on frogs.

It's hard to imagine that fish are still being caught after the rains but they are definately out there.
