Hello, all! Heading up to Nevis this weekend to check deer stands and fish for some fall muskies. Has anyone been out or had any luck on Elk or Mantrap lakes? Never fished either of these lakes before. I have only fished lakes in the cities and French lake in Faribault. All help very much appreciated!

We spent last weekend camping and fishing on Mantrap Lake. Didn't catch any, but we had a lot of follow up's. All of the fish were along the shoreline or on one of the midlake humps. My uncle had one on casting a bucktail from one of the boat docks at the campground, in about four feet of water, but it got off. Good Luck.

Gave Mantrap a try this summer. We had 6 or 7 follows, all in large part of the lake. It's not a really large body of water so I don't think it's too hard figuring out a good pattern, but it seems to be impossible to get one of those #$%#$^$% things to eat-but that's musky fishing. I've heard there are some great big ones in there. The ones we saw were decent, upper 30 to low 40" class. Good luck.
