Just got back from Park Rapids. We were out on 4-6" of ice. We caught some walleyes, the biggest 5#, also northerns and sunfish.

yes i to was up ther caught some walleye and norther and sunny but it was cold sleeping in trailer and cleaning heater mess....

Has anyone heard how much ice is on big sand? I was thinking of making a trip up there this weekend? Any suggestions?

plenty off ice 7" ice easy i was up last weekend and 5" 7" then your good to go did well bigest walleye 5# couple 2-3# post back let me no how you did ?

I fish Big Sand about 4-6 times in the summer and try to get out a couple of times the fall. I love fishing Big Sand and mostly pursue the nice walleyes out there. I've never ice fished it before, because I haven't really figured out a way to access the lake in winter. How do you get on that lake without an access that seems safe to go on? Thanks for the information ahead of time.

I tried to get on Big Sand last winter, couldn't get on. Asked three resorts and a homeowner. All said no.
