Splithand Lake

Has anyone been out on Splithand Lake? We will be in Grand Rapids this weekend and would like to take the kids out fishing for some crappies. Any reports on ice conditions or "the bite" would be appreciated.

Ice solid. 13 - 15". Walleyes have been a morning or late afternoon bite. Not a lot of size yet. forage minnows worked near bottom, tipped with shiners have been best. Not much crappie action reported yet. some pan fish & pike bein g caught daytime 8 - 12' off shorelines. Good Luck!

Going to be up at the cabin (just down the road from both splithands) how is teh fishing on either lake? Anyone interested in getting out on either lake that has a auger? Need an auger and was going to try to get out at least a few hours one day.

Will be up there March 11th - 14th, you would think there will still be plenty of ice to at least walk on!
