Deer Lake

[Wildlineman]

Anyone have a Deer Lake (North of Grand Rapids) report? I'm heading there Fri 8/29 through 8/31 and will be fishing mostly for Muskie and maybe a little Walleye fishing.

I was there last thur. hooked one little one cubby had 2 follows and one decent gator. The fish seemed to be relating to the rock humps around the lake with weeds on them around the 13 ft water it wasnt fast and furious but fun

There are some good fish biting. Fish the predominant humps during low light with surface baits and big white bucktails. This is good for some quick action morning and evening. During high sun work open water by trolling etc. Your going to be on Deer at a very good time.

Smallies are going good as are walleye at night. Did good on Deep diving rogues in the silver, blue orange combo. Good Luck

Well I spent last weekend on Deer Lake and really enjoyed my time on the water with my step dad. Unfortunately all we caught were LM Bass which seemed to be hanging around steep breaks in approx 16' of water.
We saw two Muskies and both lazily followed my modified black tallywacker. I just could not turn them into bighters.
We almost went to Moose Lake on Saturday and I'm glad we didn't. I understand that someone drowned there and It would have bothered me for a long time if I witnessed that, then again maybe I could have helped. God bless that persons family.

Once again Deer Lake kicked my butt........
