Crappies are staged just outside the shallows with surface temps in the upper 40’s. -

If I was to guess now, I would stick with my original prediction of Sunday, May 4th based on Soudan forecast. A lot of ice to melt. -

Grandpa Leech in trouble part II Older grandsons birthdays coming up. Picked up a nice used package for him. Good first starter for a 15 year old. 👍 -

Little late for me to throw in a guess for ice out but wanted to make my first post on this forum in here. Nerves are starting to kick in for netting the first Vermilion Walter (and crappies of course) of the season! -

Thanks for checking the ice. The forecast for Cook is favorable, not for an April ice-out, but generally favorable for weakening the ice. The sun will be out half of the time and when not, the rain will hammer away. The wind looks like it will pick up over the next 10 days and temps will stay above freezing at night. I'm not worried about opener being in jeopardy. I only have a mild worry about how my belly will feel after a walleye feast on Saturday, May 10th. 😁 -

Picture from 7:17am this morning. Tuesday, April 22nd is the official ice-our date on our lake. Leech wins. Now we just wait 2 weeks ± 5 days for the ice to off Vermilion.
