This time of year they have it all decorated up like a Hallmark show, so the wife likes it.  I think it's got darn good food and the prices aren't bad.

Glad they hung on to it with leaving 13 points on the field.

It was a win but can they get by the Lion's and Chief's if the defense doesn't show up?  What more can your QB do but his best stat game of the season?

Just like the Twins in 87 and 91.  One game at a time.  I think with KOC they have a good shot. Besides it's a rebuild year according to the experts at the beginning of the year.

I think they could get the Lions.  Not as confident with the Chefs.  I’d love to see it though.

Darnold did well for sure!  But he was off a bit and the receivers made some great catches.  Then a few plays that were close to turnovers.  It was a good thing GB took too long to find their game.

Im not hatin’, just sayin’.

Agreed.  If Darnold could unload a lot faster off the snap he would be unstoppable.  I could see how frustrated Jefferson was.

The only points the Packers scored were 1) off a turnover (interception), and 2) in garbage time when the Vikings went into prevent defense mode.  Outside of that, they put up a whopping 3 points.  This from a GB team that has scored at least 30 points in each of their last 5 games.

The theory on prevent defense is that once you get a big lead in the 4th quarter, you back off and make the opponent beat you by methodically moving the ball and the sticks, one at a time.  It eats up clock and there just isn't enough time left to come back doing it.  You don't want to get beat deep so you give them easy yardage.  Its like slowly bleeding out but you survive the game without dying.  I don't particularly care for it, but every single team in the NFL does it.  We've seen it  a lot this season too when the Vikings get a double digit lead, and then back off, allowing the other team to gain ground and make it close.

Yeah, I get the Prevent Defense technique and hate it too.  If the D has been “preventing” the first 3 quarters, why not just stick with what works?

Great question.  There's 32 defensive coordinators in the league to ask.  You let me know when you find out!

Burning time is really the only answer, like you said, unless it’s a calculated way to keep viewers tuned in and jacked up.

Too clinical.  But I’m no football fanatic.  I say, if you got the horsepower, keep the hammer down.  Dan Campbell seems to play that way.  4th and goal; go for the touchdown and get it over 50% the time.  Net +1 point for every 2 tries instead of settling for field goals.

We’ve seen the Vikes lose to too many “Prevent” scenarios in the past.  Thankfully it’s been in their favor lately, under O’Connell.  I cringe, waiting to see that bubble burst again.

On the South Shore... Ice fishing is in full swing on the south shore of Lake of the Woods, with resorts and outfitters continuing to report solid ice conditions and some good fishing. Many ice roads are now open to 1 ton vehicles pulling a wheelhouse.  Every road has different weight limits, check with each resort for details before traveling up and out on the ice.      Most fishing activity is happening in 26 - 32 feet of water.  Most anglers are sorting through some small fish to catch their keepers with an occasional slot or trophy walleye.   Most buckets have some good quality walleyes and saugers. Jumbo perch, northern pike, and large eelpout are also adding excitement to the mix, with a few sturgeon showing up as well.   Anglers are using the one-two punch of jigging in one hole and deadsticking the second hole. In the jigging hole, your favorite small to mid sized jigging spoon in gold, glow red, glow white, pink, chartreuse or a combo of these colors tipped with a minnow head. Rattles can help as well in the stained water.   Some anglers are finding success on jigging raps and rippin raps as well.  More aggressive techniques at times are really getting it done.   On the deadstick, a small jig with a live minnow hooked behind the dorsal fin set 6 inches - a foot off of the bottom is working well.   Using electronics is very helpful to see suspended fish, know when fish are coming through and adjust your presentation to the mood of each fish.   On the Rainy River... The Rainy River is still producing some nice fish but the good walleye bite has slowed some.  Anglers are catching some decent numbers of walleyes and saugers, with several nice-sized sturgeon showing up nicely for those angling for them. However, caution remains crucial on the river, as ice conditions can vary significantly due to the current.   Catch-and-release sturgeon fishing continues to be good.  To stay safe and maximize success, always work with a local resort or outfitter familiar with river conditions.   Up at the NW Angle... Ice fishing is going very well up at the Northwest Angle. Resorts have fish houses out with anglers already enjoying excellent success.   The NW Angle is delivering its usual consistent fishing, with a nice mix of walleyes, saugers, jumbo perch, and pike being caught. Resorts and outfitters in the area are working hard to place fish houses on points, reefs and over deep mud.     Ice fishing is in full swing and there are openings for lodging and fish house rentals on both ends of the lake.     For more information on fish house rentals, lodging, and updates on ice conditions, visit fishingminnesota.com.

Would you believe it if I told you I know what that “Northern MN” lake was?  Haha!   I agree with a lot of what the findings in that study but they still had more work to do.  Aaron Wiebe of Uncut Angling got tied up in that debate shortly after the video you posted aired.  They’ve still been rehashing opinions, variations and suggestions about that study since it happened.   At least it’s being acknowledged and the nay sayers probably just don’t want to stop fishing some easy fish they’ve found.  Anybody who can be objective about their own actions and fishes a lot has to know this is real.  But also it occurs at varying degrees depending on the fish and the body of water.

But, their not even doing that.  I call um the "Bonk" plays.  Luck to get back to the line of scrimmage or a yard or two.  Bonk.

Boring football but you gotta keep moving the chains somehow - and get into the end zone.

Good stuff and kind of verified some known facts!   Keep um and eat um from deep water.
    • leech~~
What I would do is keep running the ball right smack up the middle and throw short passes to the sidelines!  Because that works so well!  Showed no highlight, ever!

Too bad everyone knows the chink in the armor now.  Darnold is probably in for another beating in the next game.  Hopefully the coaches can figure out how to overcome the blitz on every play.

14-3 is a heckuva season given they were projected to win about 7 games.   Can't lose anymore now.  Otherwise its golfing season.
