WTT for a 1st Generation BAR, or USA made 1911s

Recommended Posts

I'm on the hunt again for a rifle.

I'm looking for a 1st generation Browning BAR in 308.

A scope would be good, as would an extra clip.

I want one in nice shape.

I'll also trade any of my guns for USA made 1911s.

May consider other interesting vintage firearms in trade.

I am interested in trading only.

Face to face.

I have a Marlin 1893 in 30-30, made in 1904, decent shape, functions as it should

A VT Bernardelli Gardone 20 gauge SXS, sidelock shotgun, 25" barrels, a great early season grouse gun

A 1962 Colt Frontier Scout, nice shape, faint turn line

A 1975 Colt New Frontier Buntline, nice shape

A 1949 S&W K22, a very good shooter

A  1954 S&W K38, mint, very faint turn line

If you want to do some trading hit me up.

Jim

The gun I have wanted since I was about 15 was the Ruger 10/44 carbine.  Their getting pretty hard to find and the last one I saw at a gun show was going for $1,200. 😳

I had a guy hit me with a lightly used 1969 BAR, he wanted $1650 with an older Leupold scope.

More than I think they are worth, I made an offer, he declined end of story.

You know if you look at the old brochures, a grade II BAR sold for $250 in the late 60s, $1650 would be a good return on your investment.

Why would anybody want a 50 year old gun, they are heavy, have wood stocks, and blued metal.

I guess mainly to keep their gun safes glued to the floor. lol

You can probably buy a stainless rifle that you never have to clean, with a synthetic stock you never have to refinish, is as light as a feather, and for half as much money, perfect.

I'm too old for a youth gun, although I've shrunk enough that it would probably fit. lol

No Ruger 10/44s.

As I get older it's really not just about sending bullets down range.  Some of it's just the workmanship of the gun and the wow factor.

The other two guns I have really wanted which I'll never have now because of their price, is a 8mm Jap Nambu and 9mm German Luger.

Just thought they always looked cool!

Grouse season is right around the corner, my Italian 20-gauge SxS sidelock is still available for trade.

25" barrels, ejectors, single selective trigger, great early season grouse thumper, and in excellent condition for a fifty-year-old gun.

What I really wanna know is:   How’d get that lattice to curve like that?  Bomb diggity!

Fish Newton lake is great for walleyes. Everyone goes to basswood and forgets about newton. The late fall pike bite in pipestone is amazing and it’s a great time to catch the big walleyes are up there feeding too.

It would cost you 830 bucks to watch every game this NFL season under multiple platforms.   I don't have peacock or espn+ or whatever they want me to have, so I'll just have to relent on being able to watch a few games.  I refuse to cave in to their demands just to watch the Packers play the Eagles in Brazil.  I think last year peacock had the exclusive rights to the Miami/KC playoff game too.  I'm sure that will occur again in January.

Well it's a win, but it wasn't to Purdy with all the turn overs and penalties!

Oop, must be another Vikings game.  So far it's been a Prudy game, Viks!  😁

Another prediction.   Under the cloud of "Woke Inclusion" Just like the Mn state flag and the Mn Twins, the Vikings name will be going away in a few years! Their already making them look like Snow flakes!  We can't have the uniforms of angry Norwegian people!  Sounds funny but. Wait for it! 😒

Just sayen, not all the loyal old fans, can pay for the NFL viewing package!

New frontiers.  Expand the market; make more money.  Despite some PR moments, they’re not in it for charity.   BUT, they might want to take a moment and see how that worked out for NASCAR.  Not that having to buy premium channels to watch races was the only problem but it sure helped kill the fever for a lot of people.

Get ready. Any bets in a few years the average Joe NFL fans aren't going to be able to watch their local teams, unless it's pay for view!  Sounds like their greasing the wheels now.  There are 5 international games this year! ☹️ "The NFL will play a regular season game in Madrid, Spain in 2025, as the NFL prioritizes global growth and expands the International Games to new cities and markets around the world."

I have gone into Basswood from Fall Lake. From Fall the first portage takes you into Newton and that is the easier of the two. The portage from Newton into Pipestone is the one with a hill. It is definitely harder! You also have to be careful when you go down the hill because the boat will pick up speed and can get away from you. Yes, you can get to Jackfish without going into Canada and there are signs letting you know where Canada is.
