The name is Longyear Lake. I do know of some nice walleyes that came out of there a few summers back. There are standing weeds in the summer on the southern side of the lake (main street breaks the lake in two) and there was a deep hole (19 feet or so) next to it. They were pulling out 2+ pound eyes out of it. The guy said it was his best fishing that summer and while fishing had his hat tipped down over his face since he is a main-street merchant and was a bit embarrassed to be out there. Anyway, give it a shot since there are some nice eyes in there. I have heard of shore fishermen (soft water of course) catch them by the main culvert that connects the 2 sections under the road.

Enjoy, and good luck.

Northern Dirt...Don't let the secret out of the bag!!! Personally I believe the state should designate Chisholm lakes open fishing for kids only. I see to many greedy grown-ups taking way to many fish out of there.

I for one fish this every year with my dad he is 70 years old and he has taken his fair share of walleyes out of this lake. As for eyes in the winter the permanent fish houses are out there for people to party in. I have drilled enough holes in this lake for 2 each of the residents of Chisholm. Walleyes Caught 00000000 northerns 100.

I've noticed that also, many folks not doing so hot in the winter. I tip-up fished both lakes when I was in high school and had fun with the pike, but never jigged for walleyes. I use to fish with an old timer off the dock and off shore while I would wait for my mom to get off work (was borrowing her vehicle) when she worked in Chisholm. Did very well a few times, let all the fish over 3 pounds go. If I had enough time I would go over to Kinney pit for some rainbows.

Don't take me wrong, I'm not anti-technology.  Battery powdered items will always have their place.  I'm mean you don't want your girl friend or wife in the bedroom playing for their gas powered adult toys!!  That would be a bit loud and smokey!

That’s right. My 84 year old dad loves his electric chain saw. Light weight and quiet. Besides, at his age he’s not cutting a bunch. Where as myself I want something with more power and heavier duty.  Look at how many people have switched back to gasoline cars after running one in winter if you travel a lot.   As long as my strike master works I’ll keep using gas. Maybe my next will be electric, but who knows,  you can find used gas ones pretty reasonable as others buy electric.
