New to hunting. Help me find a place to scout for White Tail

Hello everyone and happy Sunday. I moved to Minnesota from Florida about a year and a half ago and am super eager to get into hunting since its so available in this state. Problem is I have never hunted so I have no clue what to look for in a good hunting spot. I am going to have to hunt public lands as I know no one with land I could hunt on. I saw there are tons of public WMA's to choose from. I live in wright county and am looking to travel no more than about 1 hour away to hunt this year. I will be using a portable tree stand and am hunting deer with shotgun slugs. If anyone has any recommendations on where I could go to hunt and not be too worried about other hunters I really really appreciate the tip. I would like to have a good first hunt. Thank you.

Depending on your age you may need to get hunter safety completed. Regarding shotgun hunting in the metro, you'll definitely have competition. Read the hunting regulations entirely. I'd recommend getting the app OnX, it's like 30$ a year. It shows boundary lines and it also shows you tax forfeited land you can hunt, those are often less hunted than WMA. going during the week also helps with lower pressure

Thanks! I am not sure what filter allows me to see tax forfeited land. I do use OnX. Is there any way you could tell me the exact name of the filter?

There's no filter that highlights it. You'll just notice it says tax forfeited.

Don't know if I'm going to hunt this season specifically, since I've left my 6.5 CM in Texas(at my parent's house). Maybe I can figure something out with my Ar 15 but not sure.

Biggest advice I can give it going on weekday( it's not easy depending on your work hours obviously), since weekends are pretty packed.
And yeah, there are no filter, it just says "tax forfeighted".
