Rainy lake fishing 2022

Recommended Posts

I fished Friday and Saturday last weekend. Fishing was very good. The places I found to be holding the most fish were points that came off main land and stuck out into the basin. The depth the fish were at varied by the hour but anywhere from 20-30 feet seemed to be the best. All we used were lindy rigs and minnows and they really got the job done. I did finally find some larger minnows and it seemed like the bigger the minnows the bigger the fish. Good luck out there! The fishing should only get better as we roll into fall.

I just use the pre tied ones. They are about 4 feet long, have a red hook and a white bead. I don’t think it much matters what you put down there as long as it has a minnow on it. I’m sure a jig and a minnow would work too but I like to be able to move along a bit faster. Time of day seems to make little difference where we’ve been fishing. Another thing to keep in mind is trust your electronics and take the time to drive over the structure before you start fishing to make sure there’s fish on it and if your fishing where there’s a soft mud bottom keep an eye on your graph because you never know when you’ll come across a pod of suspended crappies.

Morning everyone, we’re not doing to well the last 2 days. Wondering if anyone can point us to the right direction. Here’s a couple screenshot of where we’re at. Thank you in advance!

The bite on Rainy Lake hasn’t changed much for us this past week. Lindy rig and a minnow is still catching plenty of fish for us the last few times out. We have pulled the boat out of the water and headed to the river below the dam a couple times too and wow the bite is insanely good down there. If you want to catch a pile of mixed bag fish definitely hit it up. Good luck out there!

Fished on the river Saturday and once again the bite was really good. The average size of the fish seems to be getting larger and larger every time we go. It’s going to be interesting to see what happens in the next few weeks. Should only get better. Good luck to anyone who makes it out!
