I drove by the gravel pit yesterday on the way up. There's not any transmitters or antennas (or whatever they're called) on it yet, the electrical box has been done for a couple weeks. I brought my wife back to the cities Tuesday and the tower wasn't up yet, that didn't take long! Hopefully, cell service will improve, it sure has been terrible the last few years!

Is it on the Hy 24 gravel road?

Ya, close to Spring Bay Resort.

We saw a truck on 24 in the morning while going to town to do laundry. Later there  was a crane sticking up across the lake. Went for a boat ride to check it out.

nice healthy rental check from those every month , the more  companies that rent space on it the better !

There is definitely no problem seeing the tower from the lake. I'm excited to see what happens when they finally put some transmitters on there.

I heard it could still take up to 6 months before it's up and running. Sure hope it's not that long!

I am not that knowledgeable on cell towers, but I assume the West tower will take pressure off of the AT and T Frazer Bay tower resulting in better service?

That would be reasonable, assuming that the same providers put their transmitters on both towers.

The new tower has had equipment hanging on it for a few weeks now. I'm not sure when they'll energize it but assume that it will be sometime yet this year.

Any updates on this new tower? Has it helped AT and T customers throughout the lake get better service?

Absolutely. I get full bars all-along the drive from Cook to The Landing, and out into Head O Lakes bay. I can't say that I've stared much at my phone signal anywhere else besides on my way to Black Bay. We still don't get much for service there because there are a lot of steep slopes with tall trees in the way. That was expected though. The tower is definitely providing better service to the area in general IMO.
